But we can already have fun and have sweet dreams of endurance with this new R1 SP-R, adorned with a superb replica dress: that of the YART, 2009 world endurance champion..

After the GMT 94 replica, Yamaha is presenting a new special series in the colors of one of its best teams. But with this SP-R, it goes much further. Here, it’s not just the fairing that is eye-catching. The name racing is not trivial, and reminds us of the majestic R1 SP black and gold from 2006, equipped with high-end Swedish suspensions.
This SP-R is of the same blood. Because it is a real gem, very well equipped, on the border of the racehorse. The 43mm inverted fork and shock absorber fitted here are by Ohlins – the FGT model for the front and the TTX 36 for the rear. This is already enough to sharpen the handling and efficiency of the hypersport. Then, a pair of Akrapovic silencers comes to give breath and voice to the 4-cylinder with cross-plane setting (good noise in perspective). With these elements, the bike should lose a good 2 pounds on the scale. A Polytron protection kit is there to watch over the housings. And to complete the look in addition to the Factory Racing exterior, the rear is adorned with a seat cowl and a racing license plate holder. To underline its exceptional character, a specific laser-engraved plaque is affixed to the imposing die-cast aluminum beam of the Deltabox frame..

So, suddenly, the R1 takes a step forward in terms of price, and goes for 18,499 euros. Considering the equipment, there is no theft of the merchandise (there is some for more than 10,000 euros in racing parts if we bought them separately). And there won’t be something for everyone. This series is limited to 10 copies (but maybe more in case of big demand). If only the plumage interests you, an SP version is also available for 15,499 euros, with the same set of parts but without the Ohlins suspensions. Problem: an R1 SP-R costs almost the same price as an RSV4 Factory, all Ohlins itself but with a fabulous V4 and an exceptional chassis.
