11-13 France - Magny-Cours - WSSP France: first victory for Tuuli on the new Yamaha - Used YAMAHA

Niki Tuuli has just won her very first World Supersport victory at Magny-Cours! The Finnish # 66 wins ahead of Yamaha official # 64, Caricasulo, and MV Agusta factory rider # 99, Jacobsen. Mahias and Cluzel complete the Top 5. Our French champion, Tangre finished 16th.

Departure : Sheridan Morais takes the lead in the first curve – dry, like the rest of the track! -, ahead of Niki Tuuli, Federico Caricasulo, Christoffer Bergman, Jules Cluzel who wins a place under braking from Adelaide, Alessandro Zaccone, Patrick Jacobsen, Kazuki Watanabe, Christian Gamarino, Michael Canducci, etc..

Packed in the first sequence of the Nivernais track, Lucas Mahias does not take off from the 11th place he occupied on the grid after a Superpole somewhat shortened by the fall of Kenan Sofuoglu … Somewhat confused, the Yamaha n ° 144 fails to fall at the end of the first lap !

The three leading Yamaha and the Honda of our dear Jules Cluzel try to get away from the peloton at the start of the 2nd lap, but Jacobsen passes in front of Bergman and chases them … Mahias then points to a distant 14th place…

Cedric Tangre, our double champion of France Supersport, is once again invited to this world event. Suzuki rider n ° 2 occupies the 23rd place out of 28. A 29th rider, Gino Rea, had to retire after the warm-up lap.

While Tuuli teases Morais at the head of the race, Mahias sets the fastest time on the 2nd lap and climbs to twelfth position. The # 144 official targets Smith’s # 111 Honda just a second ahead of him. The leaders are three seconds away…

Joined by new race record holder PJ Jacobsen, Jules Cluzel is still chasing the three leading Yamaha. In the 4th lap, Caricasulo took second place from Tuuli, but his teammate Mahias was still the fastest: he set a new benchmark time and reached eighth place..

Jacobsen retaliates in the 6th round and beats the mark of Mahias! With the latter, the MV Agusta rider is the only one to go below 1 ‘43.5 … He also exceeds Cluzel and takes advantage of a Morais error to jump on the third step of the podium … Tuuli inherits meanwhile leading the race but is kept under pressure by Caricasulo.

The halfway point is already looming and Cluzel unfortunately lets go of the leading trio. Our "Coq Supersportif" is on the defensive: Morais and Canducci follow him closely. fortunately for our compatriot, their pretty fight gives him a little air in the 9th lap.

Mahias raises his tone again in the next round. Rid of the peloton, the n ° 144 sets up excellent lap times and finds himself in the aspiration of the n ° 65 Kawasaki of Canducci. Lucas dives inside the Italian in Adelaide and swoops down on Morais, which he passes with authority at Water Tower !

Four seconds ahead, Tuuli and Caricasulo move away slightly from Jacobsen. The two Yamaha do not double, but ensure an entertaining spectacle by crossing their paths. Then Cluzel and Mahias are noticed exchanging their places twice !

The Yamaha official n ° 144 ended up winning at the end of the 12th lap: there were therefore 7 laps to go and three big seconds to fill on Jacobsen. The American is left behind by Tuuli and Caricasulo (new best time in the race!) But maintains his lead over Mahias….

After a tremendous comeback, Lucas could not get back to third place. Likewise, "PJ" who did not spare himself at the start of the race to join the Yamaha starting from the first row, was gradually left behind by the two leaders..

The Blues n ° 66 and n ° 64 on the contrary, manage to accelerate at the very end of the race. But Tuuli has kept a hint more in the grip and is keeping half a second ahead which warns him of any attack from Caricasulo.

Author of his first podium last year on the old R6, Niki Tuuli, who has had the new Iwata Supersport since this summer only, climbs for the first time on the first step of the podium! Together with Federico Caricasulo, he clearly represents the rising generation of World Supersport.

PJ Jacobsen accompanies the two young Yamaha hopefuls on the French podium. Our "blues" complete the Top 5: Lucas Mahias and Jules Cluzel are warmly applauded by the public mainly gathered in Adelaïde. Cedric Tangre, 16th in this round at Magny-Cours, is also congratulated.

Sofuoglu forfeits this 10th World Supersport event – and for the rest of the season? – Mahias takes control of the provisional, nine points ahead of the unfortunate Turkish. No.144 Yamaha takes advantage of Morais’ eighth place to increase his lead to 32 points, more than one victory…
