Cliffhanger backflip
While jumping, the pilot clamps his boots under the handlebars and stretches towards the ground. Looks like the bike is hanging from the ceiling and the rider is hanging from the handlebars

Cordova back flip
During the backward turn, the aviator presses both feet against the handlebar and pushes the pelvis forward. Both hands remain firmly on the handlebars the entire time.

Deadbody
Perfect when the rider lies almost horizontally over the bike like a board in the air. To do this, the pilot has to stretch both legs forward between the arms remaining on the handlebars and play “dead man”.

Heelclicker back flip
This variant of the backflip is now part of the standard repertoire of drivers. During the rotation, the pilot wraps his boots around his arms and claps his heels.

Rock solid
Rider and bike without connection in parallel flight. To do this, starting from the seatgrab position, the actor lets go of the motorcycle and ideally flies behind with outstretched arms and legs.

Seatgrab
The name says it all: the driver reaches into the grave holes under the seat bench with one or both hands and flies after the motorcycle with his legs stretched back before pulling himself up before landing.

Superman backflip
Sometimes also called a super flip. During the somersault, the rider flies straight and parallel under the bike through the air for a short time – with his hands firmly on the handlebars.

Tsunami
The pilot performs a handstand on the handlebars of the bike standing vertically in the air, which looks like a towering (tsunami) wave. Cross-legged it’s called the Scorpion Tsunami.

Bike modifications – cross motorcycles

For freestyle motocross, modified cross motorcycles are used in some areas. On the engine side, they are almost unchanged except for an exhaust system designed for fuller torque. The weight of the bikes is just under 100 kilograms and their output is around 60 hp. The following are the most striking changes.

Artist

Popular jump figure: the Superman backflip.

Landing gear:
Much harder tuned to survive the extreme jumps from a height of up to 15 meters.

Handlebars:
wider than the Cross, and without a central strut for more freedom of movement.

Footrests:
wider and higher for more grip and better handling when doing tricks.

Bench:
extremely flat for even more space.

Others:
shortened rear fender, for more legroom when doing tricks behind the motorcycle. Recesses under the bench, so-called grab holes, in order to be able to perform jump figures while holding onto the seat.
