The new little sports scooter
For decades, the SR 50 has held up the flag of the small sports scooter at Aprilia. However, the Euro 5 puts the SR off the hook. The SXR 50 is now available as the successor.

Anyone looking for a sports scooter in the 50s segment came for decades on Aprilia SR 50 hardly over. In 2021, the 50 class will face the Euro 5 changeover and new mobility requirements.
For the SR 50 this means the end. It is replaced by the SXR 50, which gives up its dominant sportiness in favor of more suitability for everyday use. The SXR 50 is powered by a single-cylinder four-stroke 50 cm³ displacement and Euro 5 coordination. The dwarf produces around 3.6 hp at 7,000 tours and 3.3 Nm of torque at 6,250 revolutions.

Visually, the SXR makes more of a travel scooter.
The design of the Aprilia SXR 50 is based on an enlarged leg shield, a new LED lamp unit with double headlights, daytime running lights and indicators. The handlebars were positioned higher and the windshield enlarged. The running boards also offer more space. A luggage hook accepts bags. The 850 millimeter long bench seat offers comfortable space for two passengers, while the seat height of 775 millimeters is also suitable for smaller drivers. A 20 liter storage compartment with lighting opens up underneath. Aprilia is converting the chassis from 13 to 12 inch cast wheels. Overall, this makes the SXR 50 much more convenient and suitable for everyday use.

In the cockpit there is a new LC display with speedometer, tachometer, total and trip meter, air temperature, clock, fuel level and on-board computer, which can be operated via a button on the right handlebar switch. There is a USB charging socket on the inside of the leg shield. The SXR 50 can also be connected to a smartphone via an accessory module.
The new Aprilia SXR 50 is available in four color variants: The basic colors are called Essence White and Instinctive Gray, the sportier versions use subtle graphics and come in Power Red and Enigma Black, the latter being matt.
The new Aprilia SXR 50 will be available from dealers from the end of June. Prices start from 2,490 euros. The SR 50 is currently being sold for around 3,100 euros.
Conclusion
For decades, the Aprilia SR 50 was considered the 50s sports scooter par excellence. With the changeover to Euro 5, the SR will be replaced by the SXR. It is much more cultivated and comfortable. Over the years, not only do the legal requirements change, but also the target group.
