Positive about the Daytonas: Heavy metal fittings underline that rough areas of use can also be travel destinations. Robustly processed.
Dentges
16/24
Positive about the Vanuccis: The shaft can be optimally adapted to the leg using two generous Velcro surfaces. Well done!
Dentges
17/24
The positive thing about Alpinestars boots: Sophisticated plastic rails increase rigidity without restricting freedom of movement. class!
Dentges
18/24
Positive about the Rev’it: With a twist lock and a very clever lacing system, the shoe fits perfectly and taut.
Dentges
19/24
Negative with the Stylmartin boots: Despite the formidable feeling for levers and notches, the thin, not very profiled sole is hardly suitable for offroading.
Dentges
20/24
Negative with the Difi: ultra-comfortable, high walking comfort, good grip in the mud, but the stiffness of the sole leaves a lot to be desired.
Dentges
21/24
Negative about the Modeka boots: let’s go! Only loosely attached fastening straps can be quickly lost. Annoying construction weakness.
Dentges
22/24
The negative thing about Touratech boots: putting them on and taking them off is always an act of strength. The “inner shoe” principle – a rather questionable function in everyday (travel) life.

Adventure boots for gravel tours
Robust motorcycle boots for long tours over asphalt roads and gravel paths, so-called adventure boots, should meet high and varied demands. MOTORRAD has tested, rated and compared eleven pairs with different concepts between 140 and 420 euros.

It is not the motorcycle boot, but above all the driver who determines what a motorcycle adventure is. Whether the term means a river crossing in Madagascar or the Milan after work traffic is not decisive for this motorcycle boot test: a firm stance, robust shell and sensitivity for the pedals are required in both environments. For the evaluation of the tested eleven pairs of motorcycle boots, we created the following application profile that should make an adventure boot: Weather protection through climate membrane, high wearing comfort, i.e. full touring suitability, sufficient protection and surefootedness for off-roading. Motorcyclists who are planning a pure off-road tour will probably tackle it with real enduro boots. Those who rarely leave the asphalt on a trip will also be able to handle conventional touring boots.

mps studio

Equipment / processing: 8 out of 10 points

mps studio

- Processing and material quality moderate
mps studio
The Modeka Rough Terrain motorcycle boot has won the MOTORRAD judgment “satisfying” secured.
Conclusion: The name is Rough Terrain, but Modeka, which is not particularly safe in comparison, feels more at home on modest tours on the country road. Even when driving in the rain – wet test passed top! In return, the Modeka Rough Terrain is extremely inexpensive.
Fit / comfort: 17 out of 30 points
Security: 20 out of 30 points
Weather protection / air conditioning: 26 out of 30 points

- small size range
mps studio
The Vanucci VTB 9 motorcycle boot has won the MOTORRAD judgment “satisfying” secured.
Conclusion: Obviously there are concerns about longer journeys in the rain – the Vanucci VTB 9 did not hold tight in the test. It’s a shame, because great features, fit and a beautifully variable concept would have been enough for more.
Fit / comfort: 24 out of 30 points
Security: 21 out of 30 points
Weather protection / air conditioning: 15 out of 30 points
Equipment / processing: 8 out of 10 points
Total score: 68 out of 100 points

- Slight slack in the heel when riding while standing
- In the driving position with the legs slightly more bent, noticeable pressure and chafing
mps studio
The motorcycle boot Difi Negev has won the MOTORRAD judgment “satisfying” secured.
Conclusion: Very comfortable boot with a great grip even in mud and a surprisingly pleasant rolling sole when walking. Good wearing comfort on tours, but the Difi Negev is too soft for demanding off-road sessions.
Fit / comfort: 21 out of 30 points
Security: 22 out of 30 points
Weather protection / air conditioning: 17 out of 30 points
Equipment / processing: 7 out of 10 points

- poor road and tour suitability
mps studio
The Touratech Destino motorcycle boot has won the MOTORRAD judgment “satisfying” secured.
Conclusion: The heavy-duty motorcycle boots offer first-class safety when driving away from civilization. However, the ultra-heavy and bulky Touratech Destino look like a block on your leg on normal tours. In addition, little moisture protection.
Fit / comfort: 13 out of 30 points
Security: 29 out of 30 points
Weather protection / air conditioning: 15 out of 30 points
Equipment / processing: 9 out of 10 points
Total score: 66 out of 100 points
Placement in the test: 9
MOTORRAD verdict: satisfactory

- Pressure points in the instep area, reduced suitability for long distances
- only moderate air conditioning
- Foot not particularly firmly embedded, moderate stability in the ankle area
- small size range
mps studio
The motorcycle boots Hein Gericke Tuareg Enduro Boots got the MOTORRAD judgment “satisfying” secured.
Conclusion: Fit: good. Security: neat. Handling: okay. Actually a really good adventure boot, but a poor result in the wetness test cost the Hein Gericke Tuareg Enduro Boots valuable points.
Fit / comfort: 22 out of 30 points
Security: 23 out of 30 points
Weather protection / air conditioning: 14 out of 30 points
Equipment / processing: 6 out of 10 points
Total score: 65 out of 100 points

- Highly accessible, non-slip material on the inside
- eye-catching side reflectors

- sweaty indoor climate already below 20 ° C
- cheaply furnished, carelessly and listlessly processed
mps studio
The motorcycle boot hero Shiroc has won the MOTORRAD judgment “sufficient” secured.
Conclusion: Offroaders are tough guys. However, in view of the low level of comfort both on and off the road, one wonders who this torture device should suit. In addition, the hero Shiroc does not hold tight. Weak.
Fit / comfort: 8 out of 30 points
Security: 24 out of 30 points
Weather protection / air conditioning: 15 out of 30 points
Equipment / processing: 6 out of 10 points
Total score: 53 out of 100 points

MOTORRAD judgment: sufficient
This is how MOTORRAD tests
We informed the manufacturers accordingly when they asked for test samples and left it up to them which pair of motorcycle boots should take part in the comparison; there was no upper or lower price limit. In the test, there was a pleasingly wide range from normal enduro boots with a membrane to new types of fastening systems and sole constructions that were hardly known in the motorcycle sector.
Dentges
Can, should, should have to endure moisture – filling test as well as immersion test.
Even if not every new concept, such as the Touratech system boot, was 100 percent convincing – it is always brave to break new ground and broaden the horizons of the boot market. There remains a difference whether a motorcycle boot should work in Milan or Madagascar – it is therefore important to know your travel destinations and to filter out the best concept for yourself. The detailed product reviews should help, see there. It is a shame, however, that apparently there was a lot of sloppiness when processing the membranes. Most of the candidates fail in the MOTORRAD wetness test, only the motorcycle boots from Buse, Daytona and Modeka held up completely.
For the evaluation of the fit and comfort of the motorcycle boots, not only the behavior during conventional driving on asphalt, i.e. sitting, counted, but also when driving standing, as is usual for off-road rides. In addition, walking units and sliding insoles on loose ground were also rated, because the motorcycle boots should also function comfortably and step-proof next to or away from the machine – important on robust trips. For the safety test, we determined the shock absorption values of the integrated shin guards on a drop test stand in the laboratory, checked the anti-slip protection and examined the torsional and lateral stiffness of each motorcycle boot.
Dentges
It was dry during the driving tests.
In addition, the testers assessed reinforcements, protectors, the upper material as well as the entire boot structure and the shaft height. Almost a third of the overall rating of every motorcycle boot was for weather protection and air conditioning, after all, you want to be able to tour with these adventure boots in any weather. In order to check the watertightness of the membranes, the test samples had to withstand a dipping test of ten minutes and a filling test of several hours in the MOTORRAD wetness test. In addition, the motorcycle boots were weighed and measured, and the workmanship and equipment were recorded and evaluated.

Expensive equals good, cheap equals losers? In practice things are different. The (actually waterproof) cheap boot from Modeka does well, Touratech’s Destino, which is more than twice as expensive, can only convince moderately with its unusual concept, but weaknesses in the wet test. Top quality, on the other hand, absolutely justifies the high price from the test winner Daytona, while the relatively cheap but weak hero is hardly worth the money. It is best to think about the intended use before buying, choose a model and try on yourself.
