It was only a matter of time before the next title decisions would be made, but nobody would have thought that the tension curve could rise again. During the races in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, the International German Championship ensured that the feelings of drivers, teams, friends and fans went on a rollercoaster ride.

“The IDM is an awesome series” said Markus Reiterberger as so often. Germany’s best superbiker, who had already made his title clear at the Lausitzring, also dominated the Magdeburg Borde with a double victory in the top road racing class on two wheels. In the first run, the 23-year-old Bavarian shared the podium exclusively with his Van Zon Remeha BMW team-mates Danny de Boer and Jan Buhn. There has never been a triple triumph for a single racing team in the top class.

Behind Reiterberger, whose winning streak is almost normal, especially de Boer caused a stir. The Dutchman is plagued by Pfeiffer’s glandular fever and mobilized all his strength to complete the 18 laps of 3.667 kilometers each.

In the second run, the BMW armada was broken at the top by Yamaha’s workhorse Florian Alt, who claimed third place after ten laps.

Five brands are fighting for points in the IDM Superbike 1000: BMW, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha. Despite the electronic problems that robbed him of many laps in practice, Jan Halbich took two fifth places on the Honda Fireblade. Luca Grunwald once again proved to be the best Suzuki driver in Oschersleben and Lucy Glockner on the Kawasaki ZX-10R only missed out on one place in the top ten. At the grand finale of the IDM 2017 from September 29 to October 1, which traditionally takes place at the Hockenheimring, it will be exciting again for the places behind master Markus Reiterberger. Yamaha riders Alt and BMW hope Buhn will arrive tied with 154 points and there are at least eight riders who will influence the decisions in the two races.

In the IDM Supersport 600, the champion has now been decided ahead of time. It’s Thomas Gradinger from Austria. The 21-year-old Yamaha rider won the first run ahead of his greatest competitor Kevin Wahr. His last hopes for the title vanished in the second run when he was passed almost to the end of the field with tire problems. Gradinger wants to use the earned IDM title as a stepping stone into the Supersport World Championship.

Another Supersport 600 driver grew beyond himself in Oschersleben. Marc Buchner was on the podium twice, once as the winner. After a long injury break, Kawasaki driver Christian Stange has also reported back on the podium.

The title duel between Freudenberg teammates Jan-Ole Jahnig and Maximilian Kappler on the Yamaha R3 in the Supersport 300 league remains a highly controversial matter. They are the measure of all things in the smallest IDM class and shared the victories.

Last weekend, Jahnig even managed to place themselves in front of the participating Dutch, who have slightly stronger motorcycles and are also rated separately, and thus to be the first to cross the finish line visually.

In the IDM Sidecar, Markus Schlosser / Thomas Hofer experienced a moment of shock before they were allowed to celebrate the title prematurely. After the short super sprint over six laps on Saturday, the Swiss were also in the lead in the long race on Sunday. When lapping them, however, a slow driver drove them into the Suzuki team with full force. Schlosser got off the train and turned.

During the time he was aligning the vehicle again, Bennie Streuer / Gerard Daalhuizen, the brand colleagues from the Netherlands, had taken over the reins. These were the defending champions.

Schlosser didn’t give them a chance and turned the spit over again in the last few meters. He mean: “A real master becomes a master even if he wins.”

The fans were able to find out how the master-maker’s street motorcycles feel on test drives. BMW, Kawasaki and Yamaha had models from the current range on board in Oschersleben. The finale from September 29 to October 1, 2017 in Hockenheim will also be all round again – on and off the track.
