Championship stand of the IDM Superbike 1000
Training and racing results of the IDM Superbike 1000 on the Schleizer Dreieck
1st free practice (July 28, 9:00 a.m.)
In the 1st free practice session of the IDM Superbike 1000 in Schleiz, BMW and Yamaha riders shared the first six places equally. The fastest driver was Dominik Vincon in a BMW with 1: 35.533 minutes.Bastien Mackels (Yamaha, 1: 37.082) and Vincent Lonbois (BMW, 1: 37.097) followed with a respectable gap of one and a half seconds. Then two Yamaha pilots followed, Florian Alt and Daniel Kartheininger, before favorite Markus Reiterberger appeared in 6th place on the timesheet with 1: 38.661.
The fastest (also because the only) Honda in the field drove Jan Halbich in 1: 39.912 min in 9th place, Luca Grunwald’s Suzuki is in 11th place; fastest lap here: 1: 40.051 min.
Kawasaki debutante Lucy Glockner was only able to complete 6 laps before she stopped training due to technical problems. Her fastest lap was recorded with 1: 44.117 min, which placed her and the fastest Kawasaki in the field provisionally in 20th place on the timesheet.
BMW driver Arnaud Friedrich had to stop training on lap 3 because of a fall. But the chances are good that he and the motorcycle will be fit again for the qualification training.
2nd free practice (July 28, 1.30 p.m.)
Luca Grunwald (Suzuki) punched a clean 1: 28.494 into the Thuringian soil almost from a standstill, in order to then watch from the box how the competition gradually undercut the 1: 30 mark.
In lap 5, however, Jan Halbich (Honda) managed to dispute Grunwald’s place in the sun and temporarily put him in the shade with 1: 28.273.
Stefan Kerschbaumer (Yamaha) and Dominik Vincon (BMW) did not want to be inferior to this and set the limbo bar even lower with 1:27 times. Jan Buhn (BMW) and Florian Alt (Yamaha) joined the 1:27 club shortly afterwards. Grunwald also went back on track and applied for admission, as did Vincent Lonbois (BMW). Immediately before the end of training, Daniel Kartheiniger (Yamaha) also added the club, and Jan Halbich declared himself chairman again.
The drivers, whose fastest lap time started with 1:27, ended up being Jan Halbich (, 056), Dominik Vincon (, 076), Jan Buhn (, 237), Daniel Kartheiniger (, 502), Florian Alt (, 569), Stefan Kerschbaumer (, 654), Luca Grunwald (, 805) and Vincent Lonbois (, 949).
The fastest Kawasaki in the field was again directed by Lucy Glockner. After a technical defect in the 1st free practice session, she worked her way up to 15th place on the timesheet with a best time of 1: 28.885.
Markus Reiterberger (BMW), the leader of the IDM Superbike 1000 championship, did not even go out on the track. Shortly after the start of training, he was seen pawing his BMW through the paddock. But of course it doesn’t have to mean anything …
3rd free practice (July 28, 4.40 p.m.)
A fall of the Kawasaki rider Damien Remy delayed the start of the 3rd free practice session of the IDM Superbike 1000 on the Schleizer Dreieck. Markus Reiterberger rammed the first stake in; With a lap of 1: 26.610 he undercut all previous best times of the day.
Dominik Vincon, Jan Buhn and shortly afterwards Danny de Boer also followed suit with lap times of 1:26, so that four BMWs were at the top of the timesheet. Then Reiterberger drove a 1: 25.754 – which did not change the order, but reflected the balance of power.
At some point, Honda driver Jan Halbich grooved in and took over with a 1: 26.481 position 2 behind Reiterberger, who then undercut himself several times with 1: 25.426 and 1: 25.289.
Stefan Kerschbaumer and Florian Alt (both Yamaha) as well as Dominik Vincon (BMW) also recorded 1:26 lap times.
Luca Grunwald improved by almost half a second and defended his position as the fastest Suzuki driver on position 10 with 1: 27.343.
Lucy Glockner also improved slightly with 1: 28.542 minutes to position 14 compared to the 2nd free practice and remained the fastest female Kawasaki rider in this session.
1st timed practice (July 29, 9.35 a.m.)
The first qualifying of the IDM Superbike 1000 on the Schleizer Dreieck brought only a few surprises. At the top of the provisional starting grid was the BMW trio of Markus Reiterberger (1: 24.606), Dominik Vincon (1: 26.090) and Jan Buhn (1: 26.213).
The field of the 1:26 times is large, it ranges from Stefan Kerschbaumer (Yamaha, 1: 26.269) and Florian Alt (Yamaha, 1: 26.350) to Luca Grunwald (Suzuki, 1: 26.409), Danny de Boer (BMW, 1: 26.513) and Bastien Mackels (Yamaha, 1: 26.612) to Lucy Glockner (Kawasaki, 1: 26.788), Arnaud Friedrich (BMW, 1: 26.803) and Pepijn Bijsterbosch (Yamaha, 1: 26.998).
The fastest Honda in the field was driven by Jan Halbich, who finished 14th in the times classification with a fastest lap time of 1: 27.176.
2nd timed practice (July 29, 1:45 p.m.)
In the second timed practice of the IDM Superbike 1000, Florian Alt (Yamaha) was the first to sit up and take notice: At the start of the session, he moved up to second place with 1: 26.026 minutes, directly behind Markus Reiterberger.
Then Daniel Kartheininger (Yamaha) added those who were able to drive 1:26 times to the club.
Honda driver Jan Halbich significantly undercut his time from QP1 and already made his way into the top 10 with a stable 1: 26.662.
Dominik Vincon (BMW) registered the next claim to the place behind Reiterberger when he undercut Florian Alt by a hundredth with 1: 26.016 min.
However, this registration only lasted until BMW driver Jan Buhn also left the club of 1:26 drivers upstairs – with a 1: 25.871. But Vincon countered immediately and relegated Buhn to third place with 1: 25.457 min.
Florian Kerschbaumer (Yamaha), who managed a lap in 1: 25.893, came in fourth.
Luca Grunwald (Suzuki) was one of the few drivers who lagged behind his time from the first qualifying, which caused him to drop from 6th to 8th place.
Kawasaki rider Lucy Glockner had to let BMW man Arnaud Friedrich, whom she had just kept in check in QP1 by 15 hundredths ahead of her, even narrower with 11 hundredths.

1st race (July 30th, 10:20 am, 18 laps)
Victory for Reiti, Lucy redeems Kawasaki
As expected, there was no match for Markus Reiterberger. Interesting duels then took place behind them. And Lucy Glockner pulled Kawasaki out of the crisis.
A full 24.298 seconds separated BMW front runner Markus Reiterberger from his closest rival Florian Alt (Yamaha MGM) at the finish. In the course of the race, he prevailed against Dominik Vincon (Stilgenbauer BMW) and Jan Buhn (VanZon Remeha-BMW).
While Reiterberger is preparing for his Superbike World Championship outing at the Lausitzring, with a motorcycle, according to the Bavarian “a dream” For the factory Yamaha riders Alt and Bastien Mackels, it’s all about the tires. In contrast to the other top teams, they ride on Dunlop instead of Pirelli. For the run on Sunday morning they chose an extra tough mixture. Mackels crashed in the course of the race. He straightened the YZF-R1 and tried to catch up, but only had four laps. The effort was in vain. Alt got the best out of it with second place, although the electronics failed during the race, which slowed him down one second per lap.
At Kawasaki, team boss Rainer Schnock couldn’t help grinning. He was more than satisfied with his new purchase, Lucy Glockner. The 26-year-old put the motorcycle in the top ten straight away, even though she hadn’t even known about it until Thursday’s free practice.
This time, Luca Grunwald (Mayer Stoneline) pulled the coals out of the fire for Suzuki in fourth place. Dominic Schmitter (HPC Power Suzuki) dropped out with a technical problem. Thanks to Jan Halbich, the fifth brand in the IDM also brought a motorcycle into the top ten. The Czech finished eighth on Jens Holzhauer’s Honda FIreblade.
2nd race (30.7., 3.15 p.m., 18 laps)
BMW occupies the entire podium
The second Superbike 1000 race was also a private pleasure for Markus Reiterberger (BMW). He just popped up and away. After the race was stopped, Dominik Vincon (BMW) and Danny de Boer (BMW) took the places behind the Bavarian.
The podium was completely occupied by BMW. “If it hadn’t been canceled, we would certainly have had a nice showdown”, said Vincon. “Fortunately, I’m now second”, he laughed, “that could have turned out differently.”
Vincon was generally very lucky. The Stilgenbauer BMW rider fell in the first race and the mechanics had their hands full to get the bike back on the road by the second run. That he came on the podium made him very happy. Reiterberger’s team-mate Danny de Boer was third. As in the first run, all manufacturers made it into the top ten.
Jan Halbich (Honda) was fourth ahead of Florian Alt (Yamaha). Luca Grunwald brought the fastest Suzuki to the finish line in seventh place. Lucy Glockner (Kawasaki) scored valuable points in tenth place.
The race was stopped on the 13th lap with the red flag. Jan Buhn fell and was unhappy with the BMW on the track. At first Buhn couldn’t breathe, he had to go to the medical center. From there the all-clear came: everything is okay. A swollen bursa and abrasions on his leg will keep him busy for a few days.
