Kawasaki Europe has founded a joint venture with Bimota, in which the Japanese hold 49.9 percent of the shares. The collaboration was announced at EICMA.

A purchase price was not communicated. The Japanese are said to have cost a few million euros to join the traditional Italian brand. Kawasaki will supply the new joint venture with technical components. The new Bimota SPA will remain in Rimini. The company capital is given at 1.5 million euros.

A first model from the new cooperation was already shown with the Tesi H2 at EICMA 2019. It relies on the well-known Tesi axle steering concept,

Around 200 branded motorcycles are planned for 2020 Bimota for sale.

In 2013 the Bimota brand went to the Swiss investors Marco Chiancianesi and Daniele Longoni, who had big plans with Bimota. There was talk of entering the Superbike World Championship and an annual production of 600 machines. The two of them couldn’t stop their announcements.

Bimota was founded in 1973 by Valerio Bianchi, Giuseppe Morri and Massimo Tamburini, whose first letters also make up the brand name.
