From March 1st to 4th, 2018, the fair took place in the Westfalenhallen 3 to 7 “Motorcycles Dortmund” instead of. The Ice Age was raging in front of the halls, but there was a great atmosphere in the halls.

Four days of the fair, five halls and over 450 exhibitors as well as 36,000 square meters of exhibition space – that was Motorrader Dortmund, which is taking place for the 33rd time this year (2018) – the latest two-wheelers, clothing and accessories were on display.

A total of 103,000 motorcycle fans found their way to the fair – despite the sometimes icy winter weather. According to the organizer, there was particularly high demand, “all-terrain and comfortably equipped travel machines” and models in the mid-price segment, while high-tech communication devices were in high demand in the accessories segment.

On the show stage, Peter Maffay accepted the check for 12,000 euros for his foundation. With him on stage: one of the three managing directors of Motorrader Dortmund Hans-Jurgen Weigt (left) and MOTORRAD editor-in-chief Michael Pfeiffer.

Musician Peter Maffay came to Motorrader Dortmund for the opening on Thursday. Like the visitors, he also took a close look at the latest machines from over 30 manufacturers. The trade fair organizers supported his commitment to children’s aid projects with a five-digit check that Maffay received on the stage next to the MOTORRAD stand.

The visitors were offered various shows and special exhibitions in the halls and on the outdoor area. The fashion show is at least as much part of the stage traditions of the Dortmund trade fair as our MOTORRAD show. The Monster Trial Show took place in the show arena; “Globe of Speed” the audience.

Comic artist Holger Aue visited us at the MOTORRAD stand and diligently signed anthologies, calendars, mugs, T-shirts, helmets and breakfast boards.

At the MOTORRAD stand (right next to the show stage) there were at least three other highlights:

1. On Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Holger Aue was a guest for a book signing.
2. Our endurance test Honda Africa Twin has completed 50,000 kilometers and presented itself disassembled at the exhibition stand.
3. Of course we had the red MOTORRAD cult mugs including coffee in our luggage again. For MOTORRAD heroes there was a free cup with a filling on presentation of the hero’s ID.
