A strong jury, namely over 45,000 readers, selected the top 10 entry-level motorcycles. As in the previous year, the KTM 390 Duke is in first place.

The KTM 390 Duke secured first place in this year’s top 10 entry-level bikes with 18.6 percent of the readers’ votes. She was also on the top step of the podium last year. The conglomerate Honda CB 500 F / CBR 500 R followed in second place with some distance and 10.3 percent of the readers’ votes. A small rise, because in 2019 they made third place. This year it goes to the Ducati Scrambler Sixty2 (8.0 percent of the readers’ votes), which was also able to improve by one place compared to the previous year. And the same is true of the Honda CB 500 X, which this year came in fourth (7.5 percent of the readers’ votes) and was fifth last year.

This is followed in fifth place by the BMW G 310 R / GS with 6.9 percent of the readers’ votes. Their fall from second place in the previous year by three places down is responsible for the fact that the three models mentioned above were all able to make up one place.

Just one new entry in the entry-level top 10

The first new addition came in sixth: the KTM 390 Adventure received 5.5 percent of the readers’ votes. Just behind, the Yamaha MT-03 came in seventh with 5.2 percent of the vote. Eighth place went to the Kawasaki Z 400 (4.1 percent of the readers’ votes), followed in ninth place by the Royal Enfield Himalayan with 4.0 percent approval and the KTM 390 RC made it into the top 10 entry-level bikes.

The comparison with the number of new registrations shows that the reader choice results do not always match the motorcycle market – see the last column on the right in the table below “Placement of new registrations in 2019”. “k. A..” (no information) can mean that the model has not yet been on sale or has only recently been sold, or has not made it into the top 200 new registrations. Because there is no consideration of categories.
