The sun shield of the Quest can be removed and turns the adventure flip-up helmet into a pure touring helmet. The Quest is homologated according to DOT and ECE 22.05 standards.

With the Quest, Quin Design refers to a particularly light inner dome made of a high-density material. The sensors and transmitters for the emergency system are probably located between the outer shell and the dome.

Smart helmet sends email in the event of an accident
Everything is getting smart and smarter. We’re used to our motorcycles getting smarter and smarter and our fridge knows earlier than we do that the butter is running out. The smart flip-up helmet Quest from Quin Design can get help itself in the event of an accident.

This is made possible by combining the integrated Bluetooth module with a crash sensor and an S.O.S direction finder. And this is how it works: the patented IntelliQuin sensors register and recognize an accident based on accelerations and stored algorithms. Using the paired smartphone, three previously configured contacts are notified by SMS, push message or email. At the same time, the S.O.S beacon is activated, which should make it easier to find the driver who has had an accident. Before anyone asks: Yes, the system detects a dropped helmet without sending the cavalry and the emergency call can be canceled manually by the driver. The S.O.S system can also be activated by the driver himself in order to make an emergency call quickly and easily. Important information about the location of the accident appears in an app on the contact person’s mobile phone.

Modern helmet technology at Quin Design
Not only the smart technology of the quest is state-of-the-art, the materials, manufacturing techniques and standards used also speak clearly in favor of a state-of-the-art helmet. Quin Design uses a laminate also carbon for the helmet shell while the chin part looks like it was made of normal fiberglass. Combined with a new type of dome made of high-density, very light polystyrene, the Quin Design Quest should weigh around 1.7 kilograms. What at first glance is only an average value compared to other flip-up helmets is parried directly by the already built-in communication system. The sun shield is removable, reduces the weight by a good 200 grams and turns the Quest from an adventure helmet into a touring helmet. Not new, but still smart.

Quin Design’s Quest is homologated according to DOT and ECE-22-05, so sale and use in Europe would be permitted. The flip-up helmet Quest is available in sizes XS to XXXL and is currently priced for 699 US dollars. Shipping to Germany is feasible, but possible shipping costs or customs duties are still open.

Would you buy a new helmet with man-made signs of use??
Voted 163 times
Yes, I like that.
No, a new helmet should also look new.
Conclusion
The increasing networking of our individual mobility is advancing, but is mostly more toys than really useful. However, a helmet that can detect an accident and trigger the rescue chain is a welcome innovation despite the uninvited reason. Compared to the emergency call equipment at BMW with a direct connection to the emergency control center, an SMS to a private cell phone number can be expanded.
