The color combination of light gray with dark gray and orange applications showed itself to be sensitive to dirt in the test.

The waistband can also be adjusted with Velcro, and the removable braces provide additional security against fear of loss.

Overall, the wide cut and the many stretch inserts on the jacket and pants also allow a lot of freedom of movement – not unimportant for off-road use.

When it comes to workmanship, the Rukka combination can shine. After around 5,000 kilometers and an extremely scruffy spring, there are no signs of disintegration or wear and tear.

With the combination of Roughroad trousers and Roughroad jacket Rukka an extensively equipped Cordura touring suit for riders of travel enduros and adventure bikes. Thanks to its versatile structure, the station wagon can be adapted to a wide variety of weather conditions. An extensive range of protectors (knees, hips, shoulders, elbows, back) ensures a feeling of security.
Can be used over a wide temperature range
The collar made of elastic Gore-Tex three-layer laminate, which ensures a tight neck finish if necessary, can be removed, ventilation zips on the chest, shoulders and flanks as well as the thighs enable a controlled and efficient supply of fresh air, and thus also allow temperatures of up to 30 degrees still bearable. However, only when the inner jacket and pants with the waterproof and windproof, but breathable Gore-Tex membrane and temperature-regulating lining have been removed. With forage, the area of application in road operation is broadly stretched between just above zero degrees and up to almost 25 degrees. The conversion is done quickly thanks to zippers and snaps. The Roughroad jacket can be easily and flutter-free adjusted with various adjustment systems at the hips, the waist and the sleeves. The width adjustment on the cuffs with Velcro allows the jacket to be worn over or under gloves.
The waistband can also be adjusted with Velcro, and the removable braces provide additional security against fear of loss. The pant legs are also flexible. With the long zippers, the trousers can be worn comfortably even over thick boots, and the Velcro fastener prevents fluttering. The wide knee area, which ensures comfort, but does not adequately fix the protector, is not entirely convincing. The passage through the trouser legs is also uncomfortable because the tips of the feet can easily get tangled up in the inner lining. Jacket and pants can be easily connected to each other with a zipper. In addition, the jacket has a strap with which the same can be fixed through the crotch. Overall, the wide cut and the many stretch inserts on the jacket and pants also allow a lot of freedom of movement – not unimportant for off-road use.

Lots of storage space
The Roughroad is also easy to swallow when it comes to small items. Two large outer pockets on the jacket (not waterproof) and two on the legs (waterproof on the right) as well as two normal trouser pockets (not waterproof) are supplemented by two inner pockets (waterproof) in the jacket lapel and two pockets in the inner lining (and thus also waterproof). So the question is not so much “what can I take with me!” But rather “where have I put it?” “The patch pockets on the jacket and trousers have zippers and press studs – the latter are difficult to operate.
Waterproof and robust
The Roughroad combination has earned the title “waterproof” on several trips in heavy rain. So far no damp spots – nowhere. The Rukka combination can also shine when it comes to workmanship. After around 5,000 kilometers and an extremely scruffy spring, there are no signs of disintegration or wear and tear.
The Roughroad jacket is available for 749 euros in the color combinations light gray with dark gray and orange applications and dark gray with black and yellow graphics in sizes 46 to 66. The Roughroad pants are available for 599 euros in the same color combinations and with normal leg lengths in the C2 sizes 46 to 62 as well as in the C1 short sizes 48 to 66 and in the C3 long sizes 48 to 58. However, the gray color combination we use tends to get dirty quickly.
Conclusion
The high-priced Rukka Roughroad combination is a real recommendation for almost year-round drivers. It is robust, well thought out and has hardly any weaknesses. It covers a wide temperature range, keeps the rain out safely and offers extensive safety equipment. A ventilation in the back area would also be desirable.
