The key data of the new Bristol Bobber 650 are quite interesting, as the 650 twin delivers 69 hp and 62 Nm from its two cylinders and only has to move 225 kilograms. ABS is also on board, as is a modern injection and spring element from Kayaba at the front. In addition, a very bobberesque look that is very similar to a Triumph – maybe even too much. Price in the Philippines: the equivalent of 6,879 euros.

Optics triumph, technology Kawasaki

The Bristol Bobber 650 can, after a cursory glance, with the Triumph Bobber be confused. The freely swinging rear, the balloon tank with a volume of 14.5 liters and the compact front are not unknown elements. The engine design also looks familiar to us and, at the latest when looking at the bore and stroke (83 mm x 60 mm), the relationship to the old water-cooled Kawa twin of the He 6 row can no longer be denied. Certainly a good choice as a license building.

An interesting feature of the toll policy in the Philippines is shown by Bristol: The Bobber 650 comes with a built-in RFID chip for contactless and cashless payment of tolls. Other manufacturers could also take inspiration from this.

Conclusion

Copied well is better than done poorly yourself. It’s hard to go wrong with the look of a Triumph Bobber. And proven technology from Kawa brings peace on this side as well. Bristol is doing a lot right here with the Bobber 650, even if the price of the equivalent of 6,879 euros seems ambitious.
