KTM calls back 790 Adventure
Recall due to possibly defective brakes

KTM is recalling the 790 Adventure models from 2019 and 2020 due to an under-tensioned spring in the handbrake cylinder

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has asked KTM for everyone between the ages of 14. KTM 790 Adventure, Adventure R and Adventure R Rally built in February 2019 and February 28, 2020 to be ordered in the US workshops. The reason for this is that the piston back pressure spring in the hand brake cylinder may not be pretensioned enough. The recall affects a total of 3,707 motorcycles in the USA. In the event that the built-in spring is too weak, it can happen that the brake cylinder does not return completely to its starting position. KTM is expanding this recall worldwide and calling everyone 790 Adventure Models of model years 2019 and 2020 are back.

KTM swaps springs

Affected motorcycles can get their springs exchanged for a stronger model free of charge from the KTM authorized dealer. To do this, the brake must be emptied, the hand brake cylinder opened, the spring replaced and then the system refilled. The process should be loud KTM takes 35 minutes and is free of charge for the owner.

KTM cannot rule out a reduction in braking performance with longer braking distances and will write to the owners concerned directly. Alternatively, the status can be checked on the KTM homepage in the Service area using the chassis number of your own vehicle.

It is not yet known whether models of the 790 Adventure in Germany are also affected. An inquiry from MOTORRAD to KTM is pending. It would be another recall of the corresponding models and again because of problems with the brake. As early as 2020, the 790 Adventure from the same model year was recalled because the rear brake component was too short.
