Here it is – Officially presented on June 1, 2006 for the Mugello Grand Prix. The first MotoGP machine ready to run on the open road: the DUCATI DESMOCEDICI RR.

A dream ? Simple and untouchable. Who has never thought of owning the NSR 500 from Doohan, the MV from Agostini or the RCV 211 from Rossi ? Of course, there have always been Replicas, to keep the legendary obsessed fans happy. But no real expensive machine has ever taken to the streets. Soon it won’t be true anymore.
During World Ducati Week, the great annual gathering of Ducatistes, the boss of the Bologna firm announced a major event: in 2006, the Desmosedici RR will be a reality..
It is now a done deal: it is neither more nor less than the MotoGP road version machine. A minimum of road equipment is added to it to obtain approval. The little headlights give it an intense expression, a lively, menacing look that would look pretty good on an X-files creature – afterwards, it’s raw happiness. If we do not find exactly the competition engine, the V4 still has a very high pedigree. Faithful to the desmodromic distribution – driven by a cascade of pinions – the completely new boiler uses noble materials, such as aluminum and magnesium for the housings, titanium for the connecting rods and valves. The extractable box will have to digest a power higher than 200 horses – From the exhaust more than 100 decibels come out; something to stand out from all points of view.
As on the championship Desmosedici, the RR is based on a tubular trellis frame (house tradition) whose geometry is identical to that of the GP6. The swing arm is anchored directly to the engine casings. On the suspension side, the rear is similar to that of the MotoGP machine; the front is entrusted to a special Ohlins fork “FG353” PFF 43 mm in diameter. Braking is obviously radial fixing, with monobloc calipers which increases the rigidity of the system. Carbon is omnipresent, for the trim and a large majority of parts. The rims are Marchesini in magnesium shod with very specific Bridgestone tires, with a profile specially developed for the Desmocedici – Ducati does not take half measures.

DUCATI 1000 DESMOSEDICI RR It is true that the Italian manufacturer does not offer an aesthetic copy like Honda’s marketing concept, like the CBR 600 RR which mimics the RCV 211. No, the Desmosedici RR will perfectly illustrate the Race Replica concept. A quite simply exceptional machine that nobody would have believed that it would one day be achievable. If the urge is already itching, save money right away: the dream is advertised for € 55,000 (er, 60,000 since the 2008 vintage – inflation affects everyone), with an estimated production of 400 machines per year. If you are the lucky owner of a 999 R, you will have priority to obtain this fantasy.

Once the order is placed, Ducati is not going to let you go like that in nature. Some attentions are provided for the use of owners: 3 year warranty and 3 years of scheduled maintenance, a racing kit including the racing exhaust (102 db), a specific electronic box, a protective cover, a kickstand. racing workshop and a sticker kit.
The Desmocedici RR will be available in 2 versions:
1 / painted in Ducati Racing red with a white number plate on the rear shell.
2 / painted in the factory machine version, in red with the wide white stripe on the fairing panels. You can decorate it like the Capirossi machine.
