6,000 km test
In 2005, the distributor Dafy decided to create his own brand of motorcycle equipment called DMP. Accessible and efficient, these entry-level products were completed 6 years later by a more sophisticated line: All One. Ergonomics, technicality, style and high-tech motorcycle protection, these are all the characteristics that, according to Dafy, define this brand. This one offers jackets, gloves and pants.
We tested the Heritage model, a jacket with a style adapted to that of many current motorcycles in full vintage trend..
Discovery
At first glance, the All One Heritage caught our eye for its elegance and a fairly timeless style. And then there is above all this high zipped collar, all unlined leather, a little bad boy, which can be folded "cool". With few seams, the Heritage jacket exudes a certain sportiness. This refined cut allows it to be tuned both to driving sporty roadsters and more stylish machines such as modern classics..
The texture of the leather is also an asset. A little "fat", relatively thick (1.1 to 1.3 mm), in full grain leather, it promises pleasant aging. It does not have reinforcement panels or reflective material. Too bad for this last point, elements of the same color as the leather would not have mismatched and would have reinforced the safety aspect. But suddenly, on the outside, it could be a fashion jacket.
For comfort, there are side tightening tabs at the waist with press studs (two levels) as well as zipped openings at the ends of the sleeves. These also have wide velcro, ensuring good support and creating ventilation in good weather. We would have appreciated sheathed zipper pulls, more easily gripped. Also, no ventilation device alleviates the thermal of the All One jacket..
On the other hand, to fight against the cold, the Heritage model has convincing arguments. Its high collar of course guarantees additional protection of the neck against the onslaught of the wind and the absence of additional opening prevents any cold point. A large central padded placket insulates the main closure while a thick removable thermal vest reinforces protection. With bevelled sleeves before the wrist, this device is comfortable and effective, optimizing the protection provided by the leather. Resistant to a passing rain, this jacket is not waterproof, in the same way as the vast majority of leathers. When approaching heavy downpours, you should put on a suitable thin protection.
Practical question, the All One Heritage has three exterior pockets: two on the side and one on the chest. Two others with closure are inside, placed on the uprights of the main opening, wallet type and a last one accommodates a smartphone. We find the same on the removable lining which also offers a patch pocket.
In terms of safety, elbow and shoulder protectors are CE approved and the back has a slot (empty) to accommodate a back protector. I thus equipped it with an All One Shell Evo element (18 €), flexible and well adapted in viscoelastic nitrile rubber (type D3.O). However, in my opinion, the location should offer a longer space to protect the lower back more..
Last point, a zip runs the waist of the jacket to connect pants.
Test
The comfort, fit and flexibility of the All One Heritage place it naturally on the shoulders. Well positioned, the shockproof elements are discreet and the sleeves have an appreciable length. Narrow, despite the velcro, their ends adapt well to gloves with long cuffs. At the waist, the pressures allow the bottom of the jacket to be effectively adjusted to the finest sizes.
This garment is appreciated in mid-season and in winter, especially in low temperatures. On the handlebars, the jacket is forgotten and leaves a lot of ease. Thick and equipped with almost full sleeves, the removable thermal vest allows you to ride a good part of the year without playing onions. And the specific beveled cut before the cuffs guarantees excellent comfort, without pressure points. Below 5 ° C, you can wear thermal underwear on longer journeys. And always that very pleasant high collar !
The summer was hot and during my trip on the Transalpes AMV, it was in Nice that I unleashed this All One jacket…. But, judiciously lined with a mesh interior, it is thus bearable under the blazing sun, as long as you ride. Nevertheless, it will not be the ideal choice to face the heatwave..
A light shower does not scare the leather of the Heritage. We will still avoid prolonged downpours so as not to damage its material and not end up soaked. However, its full-grain skin dries quickly and can be easily cleaned to remove insects with a damp cloth..
This material is also resistant to any scratches or drops. Not backing down (sometimes) in the face of any sacrifice, I experienced sliding at 80 km / h. Result: the abrasion formed a hole like a 10 cent coin on the right forearm, the fulcrum of the long slide. I find very few additional marks, proving the excellent quality of the leather used. And the correct dimension of the protective elements prevented me from any further damage.
Conclusion
Elegant, dynamic and timeless, the All One Heritage appears like a purist’s jacket. Very versatile, making it possible to face both severe cold and the first sunny days, its range of use is very wide. Aging remarkably, the leather gently displays an attractive patina and retains its softness and distinctive texture..
All closures, linings and seams show no signs of premature fatigue. Finally, its manufacturing quality and that of its protective elements make it a stylish and safe companion over time..
However, it is at the same price as its direct competitor Bering Gringo at € 299.90 but which has a waterproof insert and a ventilation system..
Officially priced at € 329.90 but at € 313 on the brand’s website, the All One Heritage justifies its price by the quality of its leather and convincing daily use. Attractive and even rewarding, it will go wonderfully on the handlebars of neo-retro machines but also of trails or other roadsters. In all elegance, because for style as for crystal, purity makes its shine…
