Forcite Mk1: helmet with integrated action cam
Forcite Mk1 in Europe from 2021
Smart carbon helmet with integrated action cam
Two years ago the Forcite Mk1 was still in the test phase, in 2020 the pandemic made the planned production more difficult, but shortly before Christmas 2020 the first 1,000 copies were delivered in Australia. The manufacturer is aiming for the European market launch in 2021.

More and more established manufacturers such as Shoei or BMW Motorrad announced new models with smart functions some time ago. But also smaller and so far less known manufacturers, mostly start-up companies such as Skully or Crosshelmet, have been working for some time on innovative products with smart functions such as a head-up display or fully integrated communication systems. The Australian helmet manufacturer Forcite is taking a different approach, integrating an action cam into its new full-face helmet.
Forcite Mk1 on the market since 2020
So far, the Australian manufacturer is known for its smart snowboard helmets. Forcite now also wants to equip motorcyclists. In addition to the already mentioned action cam integrated in the helmet, there should be a few other smart features on board. The helmet can be connected to the smartphone via Bluetooth. Thanks to an integrated headset, calls, music or other commands can be transmitted to the pilot. The connection to other Forcite helmets should also be possible via Bluetooth.

In addition, the Sydney-based manufacturer has given the Forcite Mk1 some additional sensors (gyroscope, barometer, accelerometer, altimeter) that can be used to record driving behavior. In conjunction with their own smartphone app, drivers can call up and analyze various details about their last trips. According to the manufacturer, the app should be able to analyze the pilot’s preferences based on the routes traveled and suggest suitable new routes. The app also has its own navigation system based on Google Maps.
The outer shell of the Forcite Mk1 is made entirely of carbon. He’s after the ECE 22.05 standard currently still applicable in Europe certified. It weighs around 1,500 grams (+/- 50 g), in size XL it is around 1,630 grams. Eight ventilation openings, a Pinlock device and a sun visor are also part of the equipment.
Price and availability in Europe?
The Forcite Mk1 currently costs AUD 1,299, which is the equivalent of around 825 euros. After the first 1,000 copies were shipped before Christmas, the second batch should be ready for customers on February 1st and include 300 helmets.
The Forcite Mk1 is available in sizes XS to XL. Currently it is only available online and only for the Australian market. According to the manufacturer, the waiting list there includes around 10,000 interested parties. In addition, Forcite plans to bring the motorcycle helmet to the European and US markets in the course of 2021.
