Head-up display, GPS: the helmet of tomorrow is (maybe) today !

The shell of this AR-1 full-face helmet – which would receive European approval – uses polycarbonate, while its screen receives an anti-fog and anti-scratch treatment. High-tech, this visor has a system allowing it to be completely darkened by pressing a switch and especially a head-up display, like those used by fighter pilots.

This "head-up" technology, recently introduced on certain automobiles and on Google Glass glasses, would make it possible in particular to visualize GPS location information. Above all, this screen would continuously display what is happening behind thanks to a wide-angle camera mounted on the back of the hull. A sort of "2.0" mirror (see video below) !

Close in the spirit of the prototype, this futuristic helmet naturally receives an audio / Bluetooth system which allows it to be connected to its mobile phone. In this way, it is possible to access their contacts or music directory, while viewing the information on the display … preferably when the MNC notice is stopped, so as not to fill up a 38 tonnes by trying to contact a friend while driving to show off with his ultra-connected toy !

In order to finalize the development of the AR-1, Marcus Weller, founder and manager of Skully, decided to raise funds on the site of. A successful initiative since the company has already raised $ 981,943 (!) Since August 10, almost four times the expected amount ($ 250,000) !

The operation ending on September 9, it is possible to imagine that this project will exceed the million dollars of crowdfunding. What to encourage its leaders to lower the selling price of this AR-1, expected to start from around $ 1,500 (a little over € 1,100) in spring 2015…
