With Alex Polita, Jens Holzhauer and his Holzhauer Racing Promotion Team bring the next shell into the International German Motorcycle Championship and the IDM Superbike class. This year Polita will be driving the Honda CBR1000RR at the Lausitzring, in Assen and at the Hockenheimring. “It’s a really cool opportunity for me,” reveals Polita in an interview with MOTORRADonline, “because I’ve never driven a Honda in my career.” “The conversations started about two weeks ago, all thanks to Matteo Baiocco. He was already on the road for Jens and asked me if I would like to try it in the IDM. “

Top 6 placements in the National Trophy

This year Polita is in the Italian Superstock Championship, the “National Trophy”, and has so far always reached the top six in the four races, but not much more is possible. “It’s a big number for me, because this year I’m competing in the Italian championship. My bike isn’t bad there, but the team is more of a family affair and that makes it difficult for me. Most of them are on the road in factory teams with grenade material and when I finish fifth it is like a victory. ”

“So this is a great opportunity for me to drive the last three stations of the season in the IDM. I will give everything there so that I can drive for Jens Holzhauer again next year. “

Also at the start at the Isle of Man TT

Polita won the overall ranking of the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup in 2006 and in 2008 won the bronze medal in that class again. In total, he has five race wins and 16 podiums from 38 races in the STK1000. He also competed in several races in the Superbike and Supersport World Championships. In 2016 Alex Polita made his debut in the German Penz13 team of Rico Penzkofer at the Isle of Man TT, where he celebrated his best results in 2017 with places 35 and 36 in Superstock and Senior TT and won two bronze replicas. In 2017, Polita drove his first 24-hour race in the same team and landed second on the podium with his team-mate Markus Reiterberger and ex-GP driver Danny Webb. Polita also wanted to drive the TT in 2018, but had to withdraw its start because the Italian federation for road racing no longer issues licenses. Now he hopes to stir up the IDM on Honda.
