Tried functional shirt and pants

Flame is what iXS calls its heat-resistant, year-round functional underwear, which is sold separately as a long-sleeved shirt and long underpants. MOTORRAD tried the combination on a multi-day tour through the Alps.

At changing temperatures between 12 and 28 degrees, the laundry convinced with a good temperature balance. In terms of moisture dissipation, the Flame combination was not entirely convincing, especially the back area and the lower legs were noticeably damp at the end of the day’s driving. Thanks to the seamless construction of the underwear, there were no unpleasant pressure points to report during the entire trip.

Only available in two sizes

There is criticism because of the quickly worn out cuffs on shirt and pants. The dimensional stability also leaves a lot to be desired: the knee areas in particular were very bulging after a short time. The matting on the underpants in the area of the boot shafts is also unsightly.

The fragile textile material made of viscose and aramid is really annoying: When you take off the damp underwear, the fabric in the sleeve and shin area is torn. Really a shame, especially in view of the high price of 79.95 euros (shirt) and 69.95 euros (pants). Both are also available in only two sizes (M / L and XL / 2XL).

Noticed positively: Comfort, temperature compensation

Noticed negatively: Fragile material, expensive, size choice

Sizes: M / L and XL / XXL

Price: 79.95 euros (shirt), 69.95 euros (pants)

MOTORCYCLE Rating: 1.5 stars out of a possible 5

Conclusion

The functional underwear combination iXS Flame left a rather mixed impression in the first test. Above all, the fragile material and the expensive price caused negative points. The wearing comfort is okay, however.
