At KTM, they know how to hit fans right in the heart: radical shapes and reduction of all parts to pure functionality have often worked well. And it works again – as the KTM 790 Duke study at EICMA shows.

as KTM 800 Duke haunted this motorcycle for a long time through the Erlkonig sightings of MOTORRAD. That the study is now at EICMA with “790” is labeled – given!

What is important is shown at EICMA: an approximately 800 cm³ in-line two-cylinder, which you can trust around 110 hp, with the bare essentials on the outside to be a motorcycle. Little can be seen of a frame, it seems as if the swing arm, exhaust, seat and tank are directly connected to the power dispenser, and the steering head and fork are attached to the tank.

High-quality components such as the WP fork suggest that the KTM 790 Duke the battle for market share will not be based on price. It goes with the fact that KTM wants to produce the 790 Duke at the Mattighofen parent plant, not at the Indian partner company Bajaj.

And now back to the facts. Of course, a production motorcycle is never eaten as hot as a study was cooked. The KTM 790 Duke does have a framework. Silencers, indicators, mirrors, license plate holders and similar annoyances will significantly reduce the radical nature of the KTM 790 Duke on its way through the registration bureaucracy.

Nevertheless, in the end, the KTM 790 Duke will be an electrifying naked bike at KTM dealerships, we are absolutely certain of that. A basic version with 95 hp and 190 kg for 9500 euros and an R version with 110 hp and 180 kg ready to drive for 11,000 euros – that would be a very reasonable market entry for the KTM 790 Duke.
