The Macna Bastik textile jacket convinces at first glance, especially thanks to its successful look. How does it fare in the first practical test?

What is right for a pilot should also be good for us motorcyclists – that’s what you probably thought of the clothing manufacturer Macna when they developed the Bastik jacket. As a “bomber” jacket, it takes up the typical style of this garment with wide cuffs on the waistband, arms and collar and complements it with typical elements for motorized two-wheeled life. On the one hand there are the protectors on the shoulders and elbows, the waterproof Raintex membrane, the width adjustment on the sleeves or the ventilation openings on the upper arms.

Not made for the cold days

There are also two large outer pockets, an inner pocket and the option of trimming the jacket for more draft. Simply thread the front zipper into the second guide sewn onto the mesh lining and push the cover behind it inwards with press studs – that’s it. Good on warm days. On cold days, on the other hand, it is easy to freeze because the insulation is poor. The bastik is not designed for single-digit temperatures and below either.

What is more negative: the missing back protector – there is a slide-in pocket – as well as the thin outer fabric without fall reinforcements. The casual bomber jacket is available in green, gray, black or red.

Conclusion

The successful look and the well thought-out details of the Macna Bastik textile jacket convinced us in the first test. There are minus points because of the missing back protector and the not entirely successful insulation.
