Motorcycle professionals against technical control
Gathered in Lyon, the motorcycle professionals were able to attend a conference on motorcycle technical control led by speakers opposed to its introduction. And a majority of the professionals present in the room spoke out against.
Organized as part of the 6th JPMS in Lyon, a conference moderated by Luc Forestier of the two-wheeler branch of the CNPA, Patrick Jacquot of the Mutuelle des Motards, Laurent Vertbois of the FFMC, Nicolas Grumel of Moto Magazine and François Blanc from The cycle official found that motorcycle and scooter professionals are rather against the establishment of a mandatory technical control for motorized two-wheelers.
To the question "who is for the technical control of two-wheelers", not a hand was raised among the hundred professionals present in the room, while a majority declared themselves "firmly opposed to this technical control. ".
"This debate is null and void", warns Patrick Jacquot, president of the Mutual of motards (AMDM),"since the statistics that we have been collecting for 25 years show that the technical aspects are not taken into account during an accident. On the contrary, we see that the older the motorcycle, the less involved in an accident.".
"There is no accident related to poor maintenance of a two-wheeler", confirms Luc Forestier, owner of the Honda Profil dealership in Saint-Mande and president of the 2 Roues Branch of the CNPA, based on the MAIDS study of 2004 on accidentology (read).
For his part, Laurent Verbois of the French Federation of Angry Bikers (FFMC) confirms the launch of a petition against technical control (read), and indicates that "the FFMC will be the voice within FEMA".
Regarding the positioning of insurers on the subject, Patrick Jacquot indicated that the Mutual would do "as for daytime running lights"within the Group of mutual insurance companies (GEMA, which insures three out of five motorcycles in France):"try to position themselves at least as neutral, but in any case not by supporting the motorcycle technical control"
"Insurance professionals cannot support motorcycle technical control", considers the boss of the Mutual in opposition to some of his colleagues like AXA Club 14.
In any case, and regardless of the position that will be finally adopted by the next Interministerial Road Safety Committee (IRB) scheduled for February, it now seems impossible that technical control be made compulsory for motorized two-wheelers before 2009. or even 2010.
