Relapse for the motorcycle market in February 2013
February had been appalling for the French motorcycle market in 2012 … It was even worse this year! Less than 8,000 motorcycles and scooters (excluding 50 cc) were registered last month, a decrease of -18.5%. MNC takes stock.

The results for February 2013 are heavy for the French motorcycle market: with a total of 7,973 registrations, the losses amount to 1,814 units compared to an already bad month of February 2012 (read our).
The fall of -18.5% in the past month is moreover greater than that observed twelve months ago (-11.7%) and follows that of January 2013 (-18%) … But the ratio between 125 cc and large displacement is reversed !
Indeed, the big cubes experienced a month of February 2013 more difficult than the 125, the two sectors showing respectively in this second "year" decreases of -20.2% and -14.4%.
Hit hard by the formation of 7 hours a year ago, the 125 were a little less penalized than the big cars by the weather of the last month, certainly less icy than in February 2012, but perhaps more gloomy…
"No region was spared by the cold and the entire eastern half of France experienced particularly low temperatures for the season"Observes Meteo France,"averaged over France, the monthly temperature was 1.9 ° C lower than normal".
Very little sun in the last few weeks – with the exception of the Brittany region! – France has not made motorcyclists or "scootomobilists" want to take out their helmets and their wallets. The snow, although less abundant than in February 2012, is also partly responsible for the low scores recorded….
We also note that the month of February 2013 had one day ("working", "opening of concession" and even a "short" day!) Less than February 2012. Unfortunately, nothing to rebalance the situation, nor make builders smile.
