According to very official looking documents published by our Spanish colleagues, BMW could launch in 2013 an ultimate version of its formidable hypersportive motorcycle: the S1000RR HP4 ("HP" for "High Performance", 4 for the number of cylinders).

More sophisticated, lighter … more expensive too !

Designed to replace the popular one at the top of the German manufacturer’s sporting range, this S1000RR HP4 would be more efficient and even more sophisticated than the already formidable current model (read our).

Dressed in the traditional colors of the BMW competition service (blue and white), the bike would be equipped with forged rims, several carbon accents and an Akrapovic titanium silencer to reduce weight. The gain obtained would be close to ten kilos, which would place the full weight below the 195 kg bar without ABS.

Delivered as standard with a single-seater saddle, the S1000RR HP4 would not significantly improve in terms of pure power, although it would introduce new injection maps. At the same time, with 193 hp and 112 Nm of torque, its 999 cc 4-cylinder engine is already a real killer, which tears its arms and sinks its eyes to the bottom of their orbit with each acceleration. !

It is especially in terms of electronic aids that this ultimate version of the German Superbike would stand out from the base model. The S1000RR HP4 would thus retain its four maps (Rain, Sport, Race and Slick), but would show ABS and traction control (adjustable on 7 levels) more pointed and responsive than currently. In addition, assistance at the start would appear as on the and .

Full of new BMW products in 2013

During the autumn shows, a visit to the BMW stand is strongly recommended: once again very dynamic and creative, the German manufacturer will unveil a host of new models and seriously revisited motorcycles. Among them, the most anticipated is undoubtedly the liquid-cooled R1200GS (read in particular !

Two roadsters would also be in the final design phase: the first is quite simply an undressed S1000RR (zarma!), While the second would be a new model powered by a flat-twin. Surprised by "motorcycle paparazzi", this unexpected roadster – an alternative to the R1200R? – exhibited an inverted fork, a shaft and cardan transmission and a fairly sporty line.

Finally, the propeller shield should also unveil a more road version of its F800ST (read). Remember also that BMW has just lifted the veil on its new F700 and F800GS (read). No doubt: things are moving at Behème !

Finally, the Bavarian missile would be one of the very first motorcycles of the brand to be equipped with BMW’s semi-active management of Dynamic Damping Control (DDC), which allows the suspensions to continuously adapt to the state of the road, but also in the different driving phases.

Already used on Series 3 and 5, the DDC will indeed intervene directly and in real time on the damping laws depending on whether the motorcycle accelerates, brakes or tilts (read our) !

Knowing that the "standard" S1000RR equipped with the ABS and DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) pack and the shifter is currently sold at € 18,050, it is likely that the price of this HP4 version exceeds € 20,000.

Answer from October 3 to 7 at the motorcycle show in Cologne, where this S1000RR HP4 will probably be presented alongside all the other 2013 new products from the propeller brand (see box opposite).
