Always more punch !

Aesthetically, the 2014 Diavel remains very close to the previous vintage. Its patibular aspect (but almost) is preserved, with its large scoops housing air intakes and its thick – but relatively short – rear shell under which are hidden a huge 240 mm (!) And a rear light in the form of rows LED.

The diode technology extends to the headlight, which adopts a new design as well as a brushed aluminum cover. The small windscreen placed above is also redesigned, as are the side panels and the exhaust outlets, now conical..

The handlebars are set slightly higher to improve their grip, while the saddle height remains extremely contained (770 mm): "one of the lowest in the Ducati range", recalls the brand from Bologna.

The most significant change concerns the adoption of the 1198 cc "Dual Spark" Testastretta 11 ° twin-cylinder (two spark plugs per cylinder) discovered on the latest generations of Multistrada and Monster 1200. If this mechanical evolution does not upset the situation in terms of of raw power (162 hp in Full, as in 2013), it allows to grab a few newton-meters of additional torque: the 2014 Diavel develops 130 Nm at 8000 rpm, against 127.5 previously.

More importantly: this L-twin installed in a tubular steel frame has a smoother power curve, favoring the revivals at low and mid-range as well as the pleasure offered by the one that Ducati now designates as the "Sportcruiser ".

Modern, this engine controlled by an electronic accelerator receives as before a group of “learned chips” intervening in particular on its character via three maps of injection (Urban, Touring and Sport). An anti-skating adjustable on 8 levels and disconnectable also allows to face more serenely to its "overflows" !

Finally, a Bosch combined ABS makes up for errors of judgment concerning the formidable power offered by the Brembo radial-mounted braking system. As before, the Ducati Diavel will be available in a standard version and in a Carbon version, which is lighter and more expensive because it has bodywork elements in aluminum, carbon or even forged rims..

There is also no doubt that all its improvements will quickly benefit the Diavel Strada, the "touring" version (hum, hum!) Of this diabolical Ducati. This new Diavel 2014 will land in April, at a price not yet communicated. As a reminder, the price list for the previous vintage started at € 17,490 and peaked at € 20,990 in the Carbon Red version..
