News - Yamaha XJ6: the Diversion strikes bare in Milan - Refined scooters

In mid-September, Yamaha presented us its new Diversion, a 4-cylinder road with the basic cycle part but with a seductive look. Two months later, at the Milan Motor Show, Yamaha unveils its XJ6 roadster version. And a few scooters.

Refined scooters

At Yamaha, scooters matter a lot! Also, to support its best seller in France (the Tmax – si, si! -, read), the manufacturer of Hamamatsu arrives in Italy – the other country of scoots – with no less than five scooters in its crates for the show from Milan !

Like its predecessor the Tmax, which sports a "Black Max" finish (read our), the Xmax (French best seller for three years in all-displacement motorcycles, read our) will now be available in a "Black Xmax" version ".

In displacement 125 as in 250, the Black Xmax is thus adorned "beautiful reddish shades, with carbon fiber style exterior finishes and a unique design on the wheels and fairing", describes the manufacturer.

Still according to Yamaha, the Black Max turns out to be "the logical choice for all those who lead a sporting and active life", allying"the pleasure of motorcycling and the many practical advantages one expects from a scooter"…

And what changes between the standard version and the "Black"? "A carbon-textured dashboard and fairing coupled with the high-quality finish of the new seat cover, the 3D badge and the special wheel deco", lists the number one French … without specifying the price of this novelty 2009.

"Since its arrival on the European market, the Majesty 400 has been among the most popular scooters in the category of mid-displacement scooters", says Yamaha, which claims to have improved its maxiscoot"on all reports".

At the aesthetic level in particular, with a new fairing studied "to lower fuel consumption and provide outstanding weather protection"and a new front dual lens overhanging two additional air intakes, which give the GT a sleeker look than before.

Yam ‘also announces the arrival of a new rear light "whiter than white", a new dashboard and a new seat "more luxurious than ever"located at a height of 760 mm."The ergonomics have also been optimized to offer a relaxed and dynamic riding position", specifies the manufacturer.

The mechanical overhaul is more discreet: Yamaha highlights the arrival on the new Majesty 400 of an improved clutch ensuring "smooth and comfortable gear changes".

For the rest, it’s dejà vu: aluminum and die-cast steel chassis in which the 395 cc 4-stroke 4-valve single-cylinder injection is inserted developing 34 horsepower, a 41 mm fork at the front and two adjustable shock absorbers at the rear, three disc brakes (267 mm at the front and at the rear), a 14-liter gas tank, a trunk that accommodates two full-face helmets and a lockable glove box.

As for the colors, if the black and the anthracite gray – sorry, "Moon Shadow" – are preserved, the silver gray is replaced by an essential white "Competition White". On the other hand, the prices and dates of arrival in concession remain to be discovered..

Finally, it should be noted – especially for the attention of our Latin friends, big-wheel scooter enthusiasts – that the X-City 125 and 250 will be equipped next year with a new height-adjustable windshield and a new luggage rack that can accommodate a top case.
