FFM welcomes massive drop in motorcycle fatalities

Contrary to custom, motorized two-wheelers are good students in the last provisional report of the National Interministerial Road Safety Observatory (ONISR) on the first trends of 2010.
While the mortality rate (all users combined) fell by 6% in France compared to the same period in 2009, "the decrease in mortality for users of motorized two-wheelers is greater than the national average with a drop of -19% for drivers of motorcycles (scooters and other motorcycles over 50cc) and a drop of -8% for drivers of mopeds (scooters and other mopeds up to 50cc) ", rejoices the French Federation of motorcycling (FFM).
Already, the published this summer in a strange indifference revealed a considerable drop of -29% in the number of bikers killed compared to the same period 2009, against a general drop (all users combined) of "only" -10%.

Finally, with regard to, "it is interesting to note that contrary to popular belief, the proportion of solo fatal accidents (not involving a third party) of motorized two-wheeled users only concerns 36% of them. against 51% for motorists ", notes the FFM stressing that" in their fatal accidents, motorcyclists are only liable for 61% (against 81% for motorists) ".
