Aprilia unveils the production RS 660 and the Tuono 660 concept
Aprilia does double duty at home with the final version of its RS 660, a highly anticipated sports bike that is already available as a Tuono 660 roadster prototype. These two new 2020 models with great potential are already attracting crowds at EICMA in Milan ! Presentation.
The Aprilia RS 660, discovered last year in the form of and then re-crossed in the spring by MNC during the, turns many heads at EICMA 2019 in its production version, with its desirable plastic and especially its interesting definition high-performance mid-displacement (660 cc) sports motorcycle.
- MNC of November 9, 2019 :
- MNC video of March 23, 2019 :
This new 2020 motorcycle is a kind of "little sister" of the formidable 1100 Factory of 217 hp, from which it just takes the V4 … but cut in two! Its resulting parallel twin – stalled at 270 ° – must deliver exactly 100 horsepower: "record power for a transverse twin of this displacement", says the Italian manufacturer..
This remarkable performance promises exhilarating sensations insofar as its dry weight would be 169 kg, or approximately between 185 and 190 kg with full fuel! A worthy heir to Aprilia sports cars, the RS 660 gives pride of place to high technology with its six-axis inertial unit, five driving modes and angle-sensitive ABS and traction control..
Its cutting-edge peripherals are in tune: Brembo radial calipers and master cylinder, 320mm discs (like a Superbike!), Double-acting shifter, 41mm inverted fork, color TFT matrix display and even the now unavoidable fins formed by "double layer" fairings !
This debauchery of technology may however affect its price, which will therefore perhaps be less accessible than expected on this motorcycle intended "general public" … Let’s hope that Aprilia will not match the delusional price of a Yamaha YZF-R6 at 13,999 euros…

- MNC practical guide :
MNC appreciates in any case the refreshing approach of the manufacturer, as well as its efforts to – finally – dust off its triple lens overexploited on its RSV4, Tuono V4, Caponord and even the SRV850 scooter! The original LED contours stretched upwards make their effect, as do the indicators integrated in this successful headlight.
Concept Tuono 660: the logical variation
Unsurprisingly, this production RS 660 gives birth to an unprecedented Tuono 660, presented at the very successful concept stage at the EICMA show in Milan this week. Aprilia did not take long to undress its new sports car to make it an equally promising roadster !
This concept of Tuono 660 takes all the arguments of the sports car and differs only by its slightly reworked front face with a short screen and a wide handlebar, a pattern known at Aprilia with the 1100. Its engine and components are identical, but its power. is reduced to 95 hp.
- MNC test :
The goal ? Being able to offer a Tuono 660 flanged at 47.5 hp (35 kW) accessible to A2 licenses, something impossible for motorcycles that exceed 95 hp by construction. This particularity means that the sporty RS 660 will not be declined in "A2 Approved", at least not initially….
