The 2017 Yamaha YZF-R6 is exhibited in a Racing version
Yamaha, the only motorcycle manufacturer to invest in the damaged segment of 600 cc sports cars in 2017 with a deeply revamped YZF-R6, drives the point home by unveiling a salivating "Racing" version close to the motorcycle that Lucas Mahias and Federico Carisasulo will be riding in the official Yamaha team in the Supersport world championship.
Revised engine, design modeled on the, graft of an adjustable traction control, an ABS and a shifter, debauchery of noble materials (rear buckle and magnesium casings, aluminum tank, titanium exhaust): after, the s ‘offers a nasty makeover for 2017 even as its competitors – like the and – throw in the towel for lack of sales volumes (read our).
Not content to take its rivals and the market against the odds with this unexpected redesign, Yamaha pushes its approach even further with an unprecedented "R6 Racing" unveiled during its opening night of the EICMA show in Milan 2016. This variation reserved for the track – due, among other things, to its absence of lighting, indicators and mirrors – is distinguished in particular by its poly-type fairings and its fittings as racing as racy.
It receives an Akrapovic Evo titanium exhaust, high-end suspensions from Ohlins, Domino grips, carbon mudguards and guards, adjustable levers with lever guards making safe during brawls in the package and Diablo tires Pirelli, sole supplier of Superbike and Supersport. This variation would be "very similar" to that of the Yamaha riders next year in WSSP, "due to the regulations of this championship which only tolerate a very limited number of modifications on the production bike", specifies the crest of ‘Iwata (read).
This R6 Racing 2017 should not however be directly marketed as is in the, but all its "Racing components will be available in the", specifies Yamaha which intends to satisfy "all thrill seekers" with this "racing machine. "which prepares" the fans and the pilots for the season 2017 ". In other words, this R6 Racing is not a full-fledged model, but rather the "official" track preparation that dealers can offer to bikers interested in starting with the production R6..
A 2017 YZF-R6 of which MNC still does not know the power or the torque, despite our attempts on the Yamaha stand at the EICMA in Milan … The dimensions of its 599 cc in-line 4-cylinder are however identical to the previous one model (67 x 42.5 mm), just like the compression ratio (13.1: 1), the performance should not make a huge jump (129 hp and 67.5 Nm currently). Especially since it must also meet the strictest Euro4 standards…
