Dina Dervisevic

The total of 1,079,524 new motorcycle registrations include both two and three-wheel vehicles with a displacement of over 50 cm³ as well as electric motorcycles. Italy remains the largest motorcycle market within the EU: the country has 231,712 new motorcycle registrations. In France there were 197,470 units last year and 177,037 in Spain.

Electric motorcycles in Europe

In 2018, new European registrations for electric motorcycles still amounted to 6,901 models. In 2019, this market grew by 104.48 percent to a total of 14,111 units. The two-wheelers with the alternative drive will remain a niche in 2019, because only 1.3 percent of all motorcycles newly registered in Europe were electric motorcycles.

In the moped class, the market for electric vehicles grew from 39,940 newly registered units in 2018 by 49.7 percent to a total of 59,776 units in 2019.

Mopeds in Europe

The market for conventional mopeds, i.e. motorized two-wheelers with a displacement of up to 50 cm³, can also record growth in 2019, amounting to eleven percent: 303,152 new registrations were here, the majority of which are in the following European countries: France (91,043) , Netherlands (62,340), Belgium (27,073), Germany (25,247) and Italy (21,133).

Unfortunately, the ACEM does not publish a ranking of the most popular motorcycle models in Europe. One of the reasons for this is that the individual registration categories cannot be compared with one another. But since we have already reported to you about the new motorcycle registrations in Germany as well as in Italy, France and Spain, we can provide clarification:
