While the Milan EICMA motorcycle show only opens its doors tomorrow (to be followed live on MNC), Aprilia is already unveiling one of the main stars of 2015: the Tuono V4 1100. This evolution of Noale’s sporty roadster – Available in RR or Factory version – gets a makeover and gains 5 horsepower and 7 Nm of torque thanks to the rebore of its V4.

More trunk and a redesigned front end

Overall, the basis remains the same: the Aprilia Tuono V4 improved in 2014 (read our) is still the stripped-down version of the RSV4, the Hypersport with which Sylvain Guintoli won his first world title. .

In detail, however, this extreme roadster has undergone significant changes, particularly mechanical: the V4 goes from 999.6 cc to 1077 cc thanks to the increase in the bore, from 78 mm in 2014 to 81 mm in 2015. The stroke remains fixed at 52.3 mm (read in particular our).

Thanks among other things to this modification and to a reworked injection, the Tuono V4 sees its performance go from 170 hp and 112 Nm of torque in 2014 to 175 hp and 120 Nm in 2015.

The cycle part remains faithful to the double aluminum beam frame originally developed for the Superbike. In order to handle the extra power, the swingarm has been lengthened by 6 mm, while the caster angle goes from 25.1 to 24.7 ° to keep agility at the top.

In its basic "RR" version, the Tuono V4 1100 retains Sachs suspensions as in 2014, but a more recent version. These fully adjustable elements also see their calibration revised to adapt to new requirements. The top-of-the-range Factory model (photo opposite) receives luxurious Ohlins suspensions fully adjustable, including at the level of the steering damper..

The brakes are the same as on the previous model (4-piston radial mount M432 monobloc calipers from Brembo), as are the rim sizes (120/70/17 and 190/55/17). On the other hand, the pneumatic assembly goes up in range: the Pirelli Diablo Rosso II are replaced by Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa. Like the current model, it is possible to vary the size of the rear wheel, in 190/50/17 or in 200/55/17.

The 2015 Tuono V4 remains connected … literally !

As in 2014, electronics reign supreme on the Tuono V4 1100 and all the functions of the APRC (Aprilia Performance Ride Control) aids pack see their operation softened. As standard, this set includes three injection maps, an anti-skid configurable on eight levels from the left stalk, an anti-wheeling, a shifter, a starting assistant and an adjustable ABS on three levels or disconnectable.

Aprilia is also proud to announce the arrival of a telemetry system that can be connected to a smartphone via a dedicated application, a device introduced by the Piaggio group on the Thanks to the motorcycle’s sensors and the smartphone’s GPS, it is for example possible to visualize on graphs the opening of the throttle, the engine speed, the intervention of the traction control or the gear engaged, turn by turn.

Finally, this "super roadster" adopts two appreciable changes: ergonomics "de-radicalized" thanks to its saddle lowered by 10 mm (from 835 to 825 mm) as well as its close handlebars, but also – above all? – a new more harmonious front face, composed of a triple lens similar to that of the RSV4.

In addition to its presentation more pleasant to look at, this new fork crown would be both more protective and lighter (-1.5 kg), a gain in weight largely explained by the use of LED. Aprilia therefore announces a drop in total weight of one kilo on its Tuono V4, from 185 to 184 kg dry.

Prices and availability dates for the Tuono V4 1100 RR and Tuono V4 1100 Factory have not yet been communicated: stay tuned !
