In 2017, KTM will seriously expand its range of road bikes with a new twin-cylinder of around 800cc installed first on a then on a. The near-finalized prototype of the was shot again near the Austrian brand’s headquarters in Mattighofen.

The Duke 800 has pot (or not!)…

These new shots do not reveal much additional information compared to our, with the rather notable exception of the presence of a new exhaust never seen before in the KTM range. This unique outlet is placed in a high position on the right of the bike, just above its hollowed out swingarm specific to all Duke.

This silencer – perhaps not definitive – has a pronounced bulge at its base, like some expansion valves on motorcycles with 2-stroke engines. The rest of this Duke 800 appears identical to the p, a roadster with sharp lines by Kiska visually quite compact and driven by a water-cooled parallel twin. Its power could be between 110 and 130 hp.

As usual with Katoche, the damping is entrusted to WP (property of KTM) and the braking is based on radial calipers actuated by braided hoses at the front. The compulsory ABS will undoubtedly be disconnectable, as will the antislip which will probably be installed in series, as on the excellent Duke 690.

This Duke 800 will be inserted between the Duke 390 and Duke 690 and the bestial 1290 Duke. It will offer, on paper, greater versatility than the 690 and better accessibility than the "Beast". This 2017 novelty will find on its way all the best-sellers of the roadster genre, such as the MT-09, the Z800 but also the future !
