Triumph Bonneville Bobber 2017: first information
Announced last week, the official – and static … – presentation of the new Triumph Bobber is taking place right now in London. Present on site, MNC takes stock of this novelty expected in February 2017, between 13,000 and 13,500 €.
Completely overhauled for 2016, the range of "Modern Classic" motorcycles from Triumph welcomes this year a new member: the Bobber, stripped down version – it is the principle of this type of motorcycles which were all the rage in the 1940s, after the war – from the current one .
Presented today in London with Carl Fogarty and Freddie Spencer – themselves! -, the very first Bobber to come directly from the "Triumph Factory" will land in French dealerships at the beginning of February, accompanied by a host of accessories. The price remains to be finalized, but will be "between 13,000 and 13,500 €", tells us Triumph France. Update of November 17, 2016: the Triumph Bobber will be available from € 12,700 including VAT in February 2017 (see below).
The codes of the genre are scrupulously respected with "clean and low lines, a unique saddle, wide flat handlebars, minimalist bodywork and headlights, a sculpted tank, spoked wheels with a large rear wheel and that must-have hardtail style" , describes Triumph.
The "Triumph Touch" is nevertheless very noticeable: the Twin 1200 cc of the "big" Bonneville wedged at 270 ° is preserved with its elegant injection camouflaged like carbs, its ride-by-wire accelerator, its two driving modes (Road and Rain), its disconnectable "Traction Control", its regulatory ABS…
Hinckley engineers have reworked the mapping of their 1200 "High Torque" – in opposition to the "High Performance" of the – and fitted new brushed stainless steel pots in order to reinforce the torque in the low revs. The maximum values will only be delivered to the dynamic presentation scheduled for mid-December: "Stay Tuned" !
In the meantime, the English inform us that the cycle part has been completely revised in order to match the "Hardtail" look in particular, without compromising the handling: a shock absorber is hidden just below the magnificent floating saddle with aluminum support … and adjustable "in two minutes with its tools", promises the manufacturer.
