Xmax 400 and Evolis 400 ABS: the new Yamaha and MBK maxiscooters
Yamaha launched in May 2013 a new Xmax 400, a maxiscooter that fits between the Xmax 250 and the Tmax 530. Manufactured in the St-Quentin (Aisne) plant, it will also land at the end of the year in the MBK dealerships under the name Evolis 400, with ABS !
MBK and its Evolis 400 ABS version
The French motorcycle market (motorcycles and scooters over 50 cc) is entering its fifth year of decline and the 125 cc are the hardest hit … The big cubes, on the other hand – did they succeed ?! – to maintain their volume, in particular thanks to the rise of maxiscooters … MBK therefore naturally wants its share of the pie !
Its factory, which already produces the Xmax / Skycruiser 125 and 250, logically received the mission to assemble the future Yamaha Xmax 400. And it is just as logically that the French brand will market its own versions of the new model (read the page previous section of this article to know the main features).
The choice of the name of the model is more surprising, however: instead of continuing the Skycruiser line, MBK has chosen to baptize its future scooter Evolis 400. Would MNC be the only one to capture a slight "Peugeot" sounding: Satelis, Geopolis, Metropolis … Evolis ?
While Yamaha has chosen to offer its Xmax 400 with or without ABS, MBK has decided to sell exclusively the ABS version of its Evolis 400, to be discovered "for real" at the next Paris Motor Show at the end of year.
So let’s hope for a long and successful career for the Xmax 400 and the Evolis 400 ABS. This would indeed allow the employees of St-Quentin to work more … to earn more? Case to follow, stay connected !
