The working group on the rise of queues ("interfile circulation" according to the official name), initiated by the former Minister of the Interior Claude Gueant at the request of the biker associations (read), continues within the Road safety and traffic delegation (DSCR).

Interfile circulation: the main areas of work

The working group on interfile circulation will have to define in particular "who" can go up the lines (if motorcycles and scooters with two or three wheels do not pose problems, it will be necessary to solve the question of quads and other vehicles of the Renault Twizy type. ), "when" (slowed or stopped traffic), "where" (on which types of lanes) and "how" (at what speed in relation to the flow of cars, with what safety distances, etc.).

If we refer to the tabled in the spring by the deputy (UMP) of the Territoire de Belfort Damien Meslot asking for the addition of a new article L. 431-2 to the highway code, inter-stack traffic could not be permitted only "on urban expressways, when the main traffic flows are stationary or are flowing at a speed of less than 15 km / h".

The interlocking speed could not "exceed 30 km / h", recommended the deputy two months ago, specifying moreover that "the driver of the two-wheel motor vehicle" should "activate his hazard lights" and "not overtake another two-wheeled motor vehicle traveling in interlocking ".

So many questions to be resolved by the working group which will deliver its conclusions at the end of June. Finally, the only question that remains relatively simple to solve is the "why" of the interlocking traffic, which is self-evident for obvious reasons of safety, traffic flow and less pollution….

Gathered under the aegis of the prefect Regis Guyot (read) in the road safety offices in La Defense – a stone’s throw from the Quai De Dion-Bouton, who would have thought !? -, several experts (insurers, car and motorcycle driving license instructors, representatives of associations and federations, code editors, etc.) have been working for several months to bring about a legal experimentation of this practice, which is already very widespread in large cities.

Authorized in several European countries (Spain, Great Britain, Austria, the Netherlands and Belgium in particular), interlocking traffic has already been the subject of a bill in France (read) but it is still not formalized..

Motorcycle press hearing

This is the objective of this working group which had chosen to audition yesterday the main titles of the motorcycle press in France (Moto Journal, Moto Magazine and Site) as part of its "Communication" group, in order to reflect on best way to understand and accept this evolution of the highway code if it were adopted by the public authorities: with motorists of course, especially during the B license, but also bikers, scooters, "three-riders" and other members of the "happy community" of urban motorized two-wheelers…

The last meeting will take place on June 12 in plenary session and the working group will report its conclusions at the end of the month. To follow naturally very closely on Site: stay connected !
