The new Caballero Rally 500 is the third variation of this historic name resuscitated last year by the Italian motorcycle manufacturer Fantic, which also unveils an electric-powered E-Cab prototype to celebrate its 50 years in a "trendy" way.. Presentation.

The Caballero is an attractive scrambler-style motorcycle unveiled by to expand its range, previously focused around off-road and supermoto motorcycles. The Chinese manufacturer Zongshen provides its propulsion with a choice of three single cylinders, 125, 250 and 500 cc (449 cc, to be exact).

This "Cavalier" is also available in two versions (Scrambler and Flat Track) which differ especially in the look, that is to say six models in all while combining the displacements and the styles! Fantic adds a ladle for 2019 with the new Caballero Rally 500 unveiled at the show (Italy).

Unsurprisingly, this 2019 novelty is very similar to the other two Caballero 500s: this Rally 500 uses the same steel cradle frame and the same water-cooled, single-camshaft engine with 40 hp and 43 Nm. the shoulder when accelerating, but not ridiculous for all that in view of the weight limited to "150 kg dry".

The elements that distinguish it are mainly aesthetic such as its headlight grille, its small windshield, the protections of its inverted fork, its raised mudguard or the tires more "studded" around its 19 and 17 inch spoked rims. . Note also the new double exhaust redesigned by Arrow, short and classy at the same time.

"What of the mouth", then? No ! The Caballero Rally 500 lives up to its name with a robust metal belly pan, in line with its suspension travel which goes from 150 mm to 200 mm. Enough to improve its ease in "off-road", despite the inevitable rise of its saddle height of 15 mm (860 mm).

Fantic does not communicate a price for this new Caballero Rally 500 which should cost at least 6,500 euros like the Scrambler and Flat Track versions. MNC even expects a "small" € 7000 because of the additional equipment. A bit expensive, even for those nostalgic for the original model and its famous bright red tank (12 liters here)…

Caballero E-Cab: Fantic goes electric

Impossible today for a manufacturer not to offer an electric motorcycle! Or at least an electric motorcycle prototype … At worst, an electric motorcycle prototype concept project. In short, Fantic does not escape the trend and in turn "electrifies" his Caballero.

This electric version – called "E-Cab" – takes the silhouette and most of the peripherals of the thermal Caballero 500, starting with the round headlight, the single front disc supported by an ABS, the aluminum swingarm or the spoked rims crusaders.

Its propulsion comes from an 11 kW (15 hp) electric motor, a power which gives it access to the 125 cc equivalence: a motorist can drive it with his B license (car) and a 7-hour training course if necessary. The average autonomy would be "110 km" and the top speed of "120 km / h".

This Cabellero E-Cab is at this stage only a model in development, unveiled at EICMA as part of the celebrations of 50 years of Fantic: "Caballero is our past, our present and our future", assures this brand Italian founded in 1968 which went bankrupt in 1998 before being acquired in 2003 by the industrialist Federico Fregnanen.
