Last June 30, noting "the constant drop in participants and the absence of new machines", the French Motorcycling Federation (FFM, not to be confused with the FFMC!) decided to remove the 250 cc category from the Coupe de France Promosport calendar.

Long announced (read), the deletion of this category – composed of Aprilia RS 2-stroke – should notably allow "the organization of C finals in 600 cc where the field is important", specified the FFM (not to be confused with the FFMC!).

Following a meeting of the 250 category drivers with Fernand Dieudonne in Nogaro, the president of the FFM road racing commission (not to be confused with the FFMC!) Finally agreed to maintain the category if "at least 25 drivers were registered per race before December 31, 2005".

Today "we are 19 drivers entered on average over all the events, so we need six drivers per race to save our category", explains Erwann Kerguelen, n ° 29 in the race and ardent defender with Alain Dubois (n ° 62) in this 250 cc category.
