The Belgian Moteo Group, the parent company of the Swiss Suzuki importer Fankonia AG, had already terminated its sales contracts with Suzuki for Switzerland in October 2019. The dealers supported also received their notice of termination via Frankonia at the end of the year.

Now it is clear how things will go with the Suzuki import for Switzerland. As of February 1, 2020, the “Suzuki Automobile Schweiz AG” belonging to the Emil Frey group of companies, which already has Suzuki cars and marine products in its portfolio, will also import and sell Suzuki scooters and motorcycles. The Emil Frey Group is also already responsible for Swiss Kawasaki imports through its subsidiary Fibag AG.

Emil Frey also strong in Germany

Could the Swiss model be a blueprint for Germany? Because here too, Suzuki is in a state of upheaval. The Emil Frey Group, headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, is divided into the five divisions of Retail, Import, Auto Parts World, Logistics and Financial Services. In Germany, Emil Frey focuses on the import of Subaru and Mitsubishi vehicles. Sales know-how and the necessary structures would therefore be available. However, there are no indications of a possible Emil Frey engagement.

Suzuki Deutschland GmbH, the German subsidiary of the Japanese Suzuki Motor Corporation, currently imports and distributes Suzuki models. Since October 2003, the three business areas automobile, motorcycle and marine have been operating under one roof in Bensheim, Hesse, and coordinate the company’s nationwide activities from there.
