A perfect grip is particularly important when riding cross-country and enduro. Nine pairs of gloves in the category up to 50 euros in the test.

For their hobby, enduro riders not only need a helmet, sturdy boots and hard-wearing clothes, but also suitable gloves, in addition to a motorcycle with tires. It should be clear to everyone that riveted copies made of leather are just as unsuitable here as models overlaid with carbon or even thick winter gloves. On sweaty excursions into the terrain, breathability and grip are the top priorities in order to be able to precisely control the throttle and brake and clutch levers. In addition, the light finger cots must not wrinkle the palm of the hand, which after a short time lead to uncomfortable pressure points and blisters.
The protective function of all-terrain gloves is close to zero. Thin plastic protectors are usually the highest of emotions – bulky protectors are more annoying when riding enduro than they are good for. Therefore they are not suitable for the road, do not protect against cold or rain and tear open immediately when they come into contact with asphalt.
Equipped with nine different pairs of gloves, MOTORRAD drove two KTM EXC models all over the Italian mountains for a week and had ample opportunity to test the candidates on fast gravel roads, rough trails and tricky trial passages.
None of the test pairs is completely unsuitable, although there are clear differences in terms of fit. That is why it is definitely advisable to try them on before buying to check that the fingers are long enough, the thumb is in the right place and that there are no creases on the inner surface when gripping.
The plastic protectors from Ixs, which press very hard on the knuckles when gripping, or the incisive finger seams on UFO, proved to be uncomfortable. The Yoko model with its bulging seams also looks a bit blended. The test winners in terms of points are Sinisalo SRX.
