Supersport Race

Poleman Jules Cluzel got off to a good start and beat Lorenzo "Senna" Zanetti, Kenan Sofuoglu, Patrick Jacobsen, Michael van den Mark, Florian Marino, Kev Coghlan, Roberto Tamburini, Fabio Menghi, Raffaele de Rosa, etc..

At the end of the first lap, Jules and his official MV Agusta F3 still lead ahead of Kenan and his Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R, but the Turk takes the lead by entering the Tamburello chicane for the second time….

The second lap saw an impressive number of drivers making mistakes: MNC remembered that Leonov left the track, Willairot, Tamburini and Coghlan crashed and abandoned the race. On the track, Cluzel gives up second place to Zanetti who does not want to let Sofuoglu fly too easily to another victory.

Jacobsen in turn puts pressure on Cluzel in the 3rd loop but Marino surprises his American teammate. Florian takes fourth place and settles in turn in the backsplash of the MV Agusta n ° 16. In the next loop Michael van den Mark in turn overtakes the "rookie" Jacobsen.

In front, Sofuoglu is only half a second ahead of the stage local, Lorenzo Zanetti. Under pressure since the start of the race, Cluzel misses his braking in turn 7 Tosa and starts again in eighth position, ten seconds behind the leader.

The fight for the third step of the podium intensified in the 7th lap: Van den Mark crossed swords with Marino and ended up taking the advantage over the French Ninja. Cluzel and his F3 set off a second time in the gravel and rejoin the track in 15th position … Mamma mia !

Halfway through the race, Sofuoglu seemed to control Zanetti and was content to grab a few hundredths of a second from the Italian. No.54 rolls a good second ahead of his rival No.26, four seconds ahead of No.60, five seconds ahead of No.21 and seven seconds ahead of No.99.

The gaps then gradually increase in the Top 5, so much so that the public’s attention turns to the battle for seventh between Bussoloti, Menghi and Wahr. Cluzel leaves the Top 15 … until Sofuoglu joins the stands !

With three laps to go, in fact, Kenan’s ZX-6R stopped working and forced the three-time world champion to retire. Zanetti therefore takes the reins of the race, Van den Mark climbs in second position and Marino in third..

The suspense rises a – new – notch when the marshals bring out the white flags with red crosses … Despite this warning, Lorenzo "Senna" cannot allow himself to give the gas too much because his teammate Michael is only two small seconds…

Zanetti kept his lead on the last lap and won his first World Supersport race in front of his home crowd, and to the delight of his team, already victorious in the Superbike category with Rea a few minutes earlier! The Replica "Senna" helmet brought luck to Lorenzo…

Michael van den Mark and Florian Marino accompany him on the podium and henceforth share first place in the provisional classification with 65 points each. Cluzel finished 15th in the Italian race and fell to 5th place in the championship (42 points) behind Zanetti (49) and Coghlan (44).

Kenan Sofuoglu scores his third draw of the 2014 season and falls to 9th place … The triple world champion and his team will imperatively have to react in two weeks in England !
