Yamaha’s new cross machines for 2022
13 models from 50 to 450 cubic meters for the cross range

For the new season, Yamaha has polished its line-up of cross machines to a high gloss. From 50 to 450 cubic meters, nothing is left to be desired, even a new two-stroke engine is at the start.

In this article:

  • New 125cc two-stroke
  • 250 with new ergonomics
  • F models with slight retouching
  • From 50 to 450 cubic
  • Conclusion

If you have all 13 cross models from Yamaha for 2022 placed next to each other will probably feel a brief overstimulation. This is not only due to the mostly Yamaha blue paintwork, but also to the many displacement classes, which are almost indistinguishable from 110 cubic meters.

New 125cc two-stroke

Biggest litter of Yamaha for the 2022 Crosser, the almost completely redesigned YZ 125 should be. Except for the housing, the two-stroke engine has been newly developed and designed for more power at medium and high speeds. The measures for this were a new cylinder head with a redesigned combustion chamber, a new piston and a new cylinder with modified openings. The Yamaha Power Valve System has been adapted accordingly. For smoother running and higher speeds, the crankshaft and connecting rod have become heavier, but have been freshly balanced. Combined with a new exhaust system, gearbox, chassis, brakes and thoroughly redesigned ergonomics, Yamaha wants to have the most competitive YZ 125 ever put on the lugs. The weight of the YZ 125 2022 is given as 95 kilograms.

250 with new ergonomics

The two-stroke YZ 250 has been revised by Yamaha, especially in terms of ergonomics and drivability. For this purpose, the tank and seat were made narrower, and the seat is also a little flatter. Combined with a new handlebar and shortened hand levers, driving should be easier. The spring elements from Kayaba have been retuned to match, and new brakes bite harder with less weight.

F models with slight retouching

Yamaha has also given the two high-tech bikes, the YZ 450 F and 250 F, a revision of the chassis set-up; the rear rim has also been wider and now has 120/80 tires on the 19-inch wheel. The engine characteristics of both models can still be changed on the mobile phone using the Yamaha Power Tune app.

From 50 to 450 cubic

In addition to the models with 125 to 450 cubic meters, Yamaha has occupied five other displacement classes. Starting with the PW 50 with cardan shaft and optional support wheels and the TT-R50, the first driving attempts can be made off-road. The engines with 65 to 110 cubic meters cover three other models with the YZ 65, YZ 85, TT-R 110.

Conclusion

Yamaha has brought more than 380,000 PW 50s to children in the last 40 years. Considerable. And that the two-stroke engine continues to have a right to exist in motocross, Yamaha underlines with the almost completely new engine of the YZ 125.

A total of 13 models in Yamaha Blue 2022 adorn the cross tracks of the world and with seven different cubic capacities, almost every competition class is occupied.
