The Dresden designers from Hookie CO. present a modern cafe racer with the Cobra series. First as a complete conversion, then as a conversion kit out of the box.

Rebuild yourself or become a professional? Long-term project or finally finished? Botch or money? This is how the custom world has always been divided. Hookie Co. from Dresden combines these two contrary worlds in a conversion kit called Cobra for the BMW R nineT. The first ten conversions by Hookie Co. get a unique design from 34,900 euros, including a brand new R nineT. The kits are then to be sent as do-it-yourself packages.

Into the deep

Hookies go very deep with the Cobra kit for the R nineT BMW technology pure. This intervention has an impact on the entire line and ergonomics. Significantly involved and style-defining: the new subframe, which completely redraws the tank seat line and runs straight from just behind the steering head to the end of the new seat. Behind it, a short rear frame slopes down, which ends in the flat Cobra hump with the wide rear light. The rear light is a body made of acrylic, which is illuminated by an LED light under the hump. The same technology can be found on the new front fender above the original BMW spoked wheel.

Tank or non-tank

Hookie literally goes deep when it comes to the tank and the corresponding cover from the 3D printer. The red aluminum tank underneath holds a good 12 liters and is precisely massaged into the installation space of the old tank, the battery, the electronics and the modified airbox and supplemented with the standard fuel pump. Hookie also redesigns the airbox, mounts it deeper, more eccentric than before and neatly covers it with two aluminum wings. The final word in the chapter gasoline and air has the short muffler from Arrow on the original, black coated manifold together with the catalytic converter.

Simple but effective

Hookie relies on his colleagues from Motogadget in Berlin for the partly new on-board electronics. From there the Tiny Speedo comes together with the adapter kit for the on-board electronics of the BMW, the handlebar end indicators and the mirrors in the same position. Both are mounted on clip-on stubs from LSL, the standard hand pumps are also embellished by the milling machine in Krefeld. The LED headlight Thunderbolt comes from Koso with the slim Hookie cladding, both hang on the standard bottom-mounted bracket of the BMW.

The LED headlight from Koso is supplemented with a cladding from Hookie and attached to the original bracket of the BMW.

Remodeling at home

Hookie Co. are planning to offer the Cobra kit for home remodeling. A system that works very well with the Srambler versions. The Dresdner still lacks a little time for the exact specifications or prices, but the total price of at least 34,900 with bikes shows the way.

Many are beautiful, but also impassable.

Better to leave it in its original condition.

Conclusion

Fine iron from Hookie Co., with very deep intervention into the subject matter of the BMW. The new subframe and the new tank-cover combination in particular testify to the high level of creativity in Dresden.
