As with KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas, Honda now has to replace the drive chain of at least one Cross model: The Honda CRF 450 R is affected.

American Honda Motor Co., Inc. calls the 2021 models of the motocrosser Honda CRF 450 R. back to the workshops: the drive chains have to be replaced. As with the brands KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas in recent weeks At Honda, too, the supplier seems to have delivered a batch of drive chains outside of the tolerances.

Honda cannot rule out the risk of premature wear or even a defect due to a crack in the chain and will therefore replace the chains. Honda’s official recall is currently only for the US market. Customers of the model should contact the authorized dealer to clarify whether their motorcycle needs to be taken to the workshop to have the chain replaced. The recall allegedly affects a good 1,000 motorcycles in the USA.

It is currently not known whether European Honda CRF 450 R models are also affected by this problem. MOTORRAD has started an inquiry with Honda Germany.

It’s annoying, but ultimately I benefit from it as a customer.

I feel insecure and I lose confidence in the technology / the manufacturer.

Conclusion

Did the same manufacturer deliver defective chains to all four affected brands? The thought is obvious. After KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas, Honda now also has to replace the drive chain on a Cross model.
