From 18. Until July 21, 2019, the concentrated power of vehicles on four and two wheels roars through the Eifel. When the fans make the pilgrimage to the 34th International ADAC Truck Grand Prix at the Nurburgring, this time a very exciting extra awaits them: the drivers of the IDM Superbike 1000 fight for championship points as part of the Grand Prix on the legendary track. Germany’s highest class in motorcycle road racing will be a very special highlight on the racing days.

As the sporting organizer of the Truck Grand Prix, the ADAC Mittelrhein e.V. has campaigned for the IDM Superbike 1000. Now two championship races will be held as part of the major event. The races are always started at prime time: on Saturday at 1:05 p.m., on Sunday at 2:50 p.m..

Mega event with around 120,000 spectators

“We are very pleased to be able to present the top class of the IDM at this mega event in front of around 120,000 spectators,” says IDM series manager Normann Broy. “The appearance in front of such a large audience will help us enormously to inspire more motorsport fans for the IDM and motorcycle racing in Germany.”

For the title fight in the IDM Superbike 1000, no forecasts can be made even after three IDM events that have been held to date. The expected BMW dominance like last year has not been repeated.

Shows and test drives on the Nurburgring

The IDM brand partners BMW, Honda and Kawasaki are starting special offers in the Eifel. Customers and those who want to become one can immerse themselves in the brand world in very different ways. Look, experience, be amazed.

BMW motorcycle presents current models on a 400 square meter exhibition area in the paddock, from the new S1000 RR to the HP4 Race to the R nineT, the GS models and the Easy Evolution electric bike. The wheelie simulator, in which driving on the rear wheel can be tested, promises emotional experiences. And stunt driver Dirk Manderbach shows on Saturday and Sunday two times a day on the racetrack in his show what can be done with motorcycles. BMW Motorrad has also hired ex-motorcycle GP star Jurgen Fuchs for the Nurburgring event, who shows interests in the correct seating positions and postures on a race bike.

Honda traveled to the Eifel in the test ride truck. On board are the CB1000R, CB650R, Africa Twin and CBR1000RR Fireblade. The truck is located outside the Nurburgring site between the Mercedes grandstand and the Ring Casino. The visit is therefore also possible without a ticket for the event on the ring. At Honda, the experience of motorcycling can be fully understood. Test drives are possible on site. The tours in the area are led by a local guide. Protective clothing can be borrowed from the Honda truck on site. Furthermore, two VIP tickets for the IDM final in Hockenheim will be raffled. Participation in a photo campaign with the Honda CB1000R at the booth is required.

Motorcycles can also be enjoyed with all of the senses Kawasaki experience. The motto is not only to look at, but also to drive. The Ninja ZX-6R, Versys 650, Z900, Ninja H2 SX SE + rolled out of the roadshow truck onto the road. There are also plenty of merchandising items. The location is also here the outside area directly on the ring.

Third IDM round in Zolder (NL)

For the third IDM round in Zolder, two drivers, Julian Puffe (alpha Racing-Van Zon-BMW) and Erwan Nigon (Kawasaki Weber Motos Racing), traveled to Belgium as first in the table. The Frenchman had finally given the “Greens” the long-awaited victory in Oschersleben. But Ilya Mikhalchik, the defending champion, cracked the double top in Belgium and won the race held there.

The triumph put the 22-year-old Ukrainian back on the ideal line in the mission to defend his title. At the start of the season, a technical defect slowed him down while lying in the lead and threw him back. That is now forgotten. Mikhalchik leads the IDM Superbike 1000 overall standings. Team mate Julian Puffe is second, just one point behind, and Erwan Nigon is third. With BMW, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha, all five brands represented in the premier class have at least one driver in the top ten.
