KTM in the 2020 model year: Reduced prices from July 1st
KTM in the 2020 model year
Reduced prices from July 1st, 2020
KTM is not only giving full throttle on the racetrack, but also when it comes to corporate expansion and development: after the 790 Duke, the 890 Duke will attack again in the high-selling mid-range in the 2020 model year. In addition, KTM is reducing prices from July 1st.

Update: reduced prices from July 1st, 2020
KTM Germany is directly passing on the VAT cut from 19 to 16 percent decided by the German federal government. Those willing to buy can look forward to a reduced, non-binding price recommendation from Wednesday 1st July 2020 to 31st December 2020. The reduced prices apply to all KTM products including PowerParts, PowerWear and spare parts. For example, KTM customers in Germany can save up to 461.22 euros when buying a new one KTM 1290 Super Duke R or up to 446.02 euros when purchasing a new KTM 1290 Super Adventure S..
KTM model year 2020
To stand still is to go backwards – for no motorcycle manufacturer does this age-old knowledge apply as much as it does to the current situation at KTM. The model portfolio and group structure are changing at a breathtaking pace. The small off-road forge, which was shaken by two bankruptcies in the 1990s, developed into the largest European motorcycle manufacturer with around 260,000 units sold. And the ambitious CEO Stefan Pierer is keeping the orange-colored Express under full steam globally.
CF Moto in the starting blocks
KTM bought the suspension specialist WP Suspension as early as 1997, the Austrians have been cooperating with the Indian manufacturer Bajaj (125 and 390 lines) since 2008, competitor Husqvarna was bought in 2013, and the Spanish enduro and trial specialist GasGas was taken over in October 2019, and from 2021 CF Moto will build and sell larger-displacement KTM models in China.
In addition, the company leader is building his own monument: In October 2019, KTM Industries AG officially renamed PIERER Mobility AG. Pierer is of course capitalized.
KTM 125 Duke
manufacturer
KTM 125 Duke.
When looking at the German registration statistics for 2019, the KTM model planners can pat each other on the back. The 125 Duke sold more than twice as often as the runner-up, the Honda CB 125 R. The fact that the Austrian succeeded in this even in her ninth model year is mainly due to one thing: It just looks sharp! Because the little Duke looks like the face of her aggressively drawn 790 sister. The pointed LED headlights, the angular side panels, the beefy 13-liter tank and the wide handlebars make a huge impression in any case. Posing alone is not enough. With a tubular space frame, cast aluminum swing arm and upside-down fork, the eight-liter speedster also adopts the chassis concept from the adult class. Anyway, everyone expected that KTM would go to the legally required power limit of 15 hp with the lively single.
KTM RC 125
KTM.
KTM RC 125.
While the little Duke drives from sales record to sales record, her sister in disguise is obviously not quite able to get on with the youngsters. Only every sixth eight-liter KTM rolls out of the showroom with a fairing. The same arguments speak for the RC 125 as for its sister. The RC shares the handy chassis, suspension and engine with the 125 Duke.
KTM Freeride 250 F.
KTM.
KTM Freeride 250 F..
Freeride offers enduro hikers and off-road novices an uncomplicated introduction to the off-road world. Although the engine – with the exception of the mapping – comes unchanged from the Sportenduro 250 EXC-F, thanks to the restrictive double silencer and the encapsulated air filter, the single is not only acoustically restrained, but also tame in character. Perfect for covering everything from climbing tours on mountain trails to detours on the (moderate) cross-piste.
KTM 390 Duke
manufacturer
KTM 390 Duke.
Even bold product planners would not have dared to predict the success of the entry-level bike in Germany. Eighth place in the 2019 registration statistics speaks for the successful concept of the 390. The look of the 1290 Super Duke R as if cut out of a plastic dress, a powerful single for this class and fluffy handling (measured value 165 kilos with a full tank) – with these arguments, the little Duke will probably also delight fans in its eighth model year. Even if it remains technically unchanged.
KTM 390 Adventure
KTM
KTM 390 Adventure.
What BMW is showing with the G 310 GS, KTM is now going one better with the 390 Adventure. It should actually have turned out the other way around. After all, the technical basis of the Baby Adventure has existed since 2013. With the 390 Duke introduced seven years ago, the Adventure shares the frame and motor. Which will probably give her a quick start now. With 44 hp, the KTM’s 390 single has exactly 10 hp more than the 34 hp 310 single-cylinder from the Bavarian woman in exile. And when it comes to the chassis, the little adventurer tops the entire entry-level category. Spring elements with adjustable damping are just as unique on the A2 machines as a curve ABS, the optional quickshifter and the razor-sharp TFT display. The fact that the experienced Austrians are serious about the off-road suitability of the 390 series is proven, for example, by the large radiator with two fans and the officially long spring travel of over 170 millimeters.
KTM RC 390
KTM.
KTM 390 RC.
Everything has an end – including the ADAC Junior Cup, which was discontinued after the 2019 season. Possibly the out of the junior series is also a beacon for the RC 390 used in the Cup. Because although the cuddly speedster largely shares the engine and chassis with its highly successful sister, the 390 Duke, hardly any youngster is enthusiastic about the RC. What a pity. With 164 kilograms weighed by MOTORRAD and measured 46 hp, the bonsai racer is definitely good for a really quick dash.
KTM 690 Enduro R.
KTM.
KTM 690 Enduro R..
Whether on the motorway, country road or gravel pass – few motorcycles spread their conceptual balancing act as broadly as the 690 Enduro R. The fact that the slim, universal talent masters multitasking so skillfully is thanks to the latest technology. Thanks to two balance shafts and sophisticated engine management, the big single runs relatively cultivated, pushes a huge 75 hp and is on top of that stable. If the XT 500 had had one wish back then, it would have become a 690 Enduro R..
KTM 690 SMC R.
KTM
KTM 690 SMC R..
She is the star of the youngster get-togethers. With a weight of 161 kilos and 75 hp from MOTORRAD, the KTM has no Supermoto counterpart. Even more so, since cornering ABS, optional quick shifter and the single with two balancer shafts already built into the Husqvarna 701 came into play in last year’s re-edition. Speaking of Husky: The sales figures of the almost identical sister and the KTM put together, the Playmobil would have made it to fifth place in the German registration statistics in 2019!
KTM 790 Duke / L
KTM.
KTM 790 Duke.
Before singing the song of praise for the 790 Duke, one aspect of its success story should not be forgotten: parallel to the rise of the 790, sales of the 690 Duke plummeted so dramatically that it was taken out of the range for the 2020 season. Too bad. But nostalgia aside, with the two-cylinder Duke the Austrians did indeed have a great success. In the wild, the scalpel, as the KTM advertising copywriters call the 790s, carves its line into the asphalt with surgical precision and can be thrown from one lean angle to the next as light as a feather. With its bassy sound (75 degrees crank pin offset) and the grandiose gearshift assistant, the propellant also shovels some gushes of laughing gas into the helmet. No wonder that the twin advanced to become the best-selling KTM in this country. Nevertheless, the bestseller demands a little indulgence. In the MOTORRAD endurance test, the 790 had to give up a bit with a defective strut and timing chain tensioner as well as a prematurely worn brake disc.
KTM 790 Adventure
KTM.
KTM 790 Adventure.
Who would have thought? The main frame of the 790 Adventure comes virtually unchanged from the 790 Duke, and the engine, too, only changes the timing to breathe a bit more pressure into the engine at mid-rev. But the metamorphosis to the middle class travel enduro succeeded – and excellently. The liveliest engine and the lowest seat height in the segment are convincing, as is the handy chassis, and off the road, only the 700cc Yamaha Tenere, which has been specifically designed for the rough, shows you a thing.
KTM 790 Adventure R / Rally
KTM.
KTM 790 Adventure R Rally.
As if the company motto “Ready to race” was not part of the cornerstone of the concept anyway, the R variants make the respective basic version even more pointed. What this means for the R edition of the 790 Adventure can already be read on the data sheet. Fully adjustable spring elements with 40 millimeters longer spring travel, one-piece seat, high-mounted front fenders and roughly profiled Metzeler Karoo 3 show where the journey is headed: off-road. Above all, the noticeably higher quality combo of fork and monoshock plows through the rough almost outrageously quickly, and the power of the lively two-cylinder can be savored on open gravel roads or sandy passages. Anyone who should feel called to something even higher on the R can upgrade to the rally from this season. The finest suspension parts with spring travel extended by another 30 to 270 millimeters and an Akrapovic exhaust system deliberately appeal to an elite clientele. The Nobel Adventure is limited to a total of 500 bikes.

KTM
KTM 890 Duke R..
Super scalpel – the KTM copywriters are never at a loss for sleek names. After all, great words are usually followed by great deeds. That was the same with the strong 1290 Super Duke R (beast) as with the sleek 790 Duke (scalpel). And with the super scalpel, to put it more modestly, the R variant of the 790 Duke, you can probably raise the bar a long way. With the increased displacement to 890 cm³, larger valves, sharper control times and higher compression, the twin now pulls 16 hp more than in the 790 variant, i.e. 121 hp, on the chain, but with a 20 percent heavier crankshaft should still be well mannered . On the chassis side, there are higher quality and fully adjustable spring elements in the fork bridge and bridge frame and with a low handlebar and higher footrests there is a little more weight on the front wheel. MOTORRAD taps: Just with the inflated engine, the super scalpel will cut a bigger piece of the pie at the Mid-Nakeds.

KTM 1290 Super Adventure S..
The Super Adventure has had its target in its crosshairs for years: the BMW R 1250 GS. The Austrian actually won some skirmishes against the Bavarian in the MOTORRAD comparison tests. Your sharpest weapon: the powerful yet sophisticated engine. And because the most powerful current travel enduro propulsion system, with 160 hp, sits in a homogeneous chassis that feels just as comfortable when traveling as it is when racing, the 1290 has long since advanced to become the second force among broad-shouldered big bikes.
KTM 1290 Super Adventure R.
KTM.
KTM 1290 Super Adventure R..
You don’t need to dig deep to uncover KTM’s roots in off-road racing. Without this affinity, the R-model of the Super Adventure would probably never have existed. A 21-inch front wheel, tubeless spoked wheels, 20 mm longer spring travel and the absence of semi-active suspension encourage you to explore the rough. If the rider still has strength and driving skills, high-speed off-road inserts of unprecedented dimensions can be experienced with the 160 hp 250-kilo chunk.
KTM 1290 Super Duke GT
KTM
KTM 1290 Super Duke GT.
The development motto for the power tourer was quickly determined: Everything that works. No wonder, the Reise-Raser – together with the Super Adventure – still represents the spearhead in terms of technology and equipment in the KTM model portfolio. Driving modes, traction control, cornering ABS, semi-active suspension or cornering lights – the GT contains everything is good and expensive. And if you look at the new Super Duke R, you suspect that the GT will soon also come up with a new chassis.
KTM 1290 Super Duke R.
KTM
KTM 1290 Super Duke R..
The beast has never lived up to its name. Luckily. Because the sociable nature will probably be preserved in the hardly changed 2020 version of the Vauzwo. What changes will be the critical point of criticism of the Kraft-Nackedei so far: the stubborn response of the shock absorber, which was previously linked directly to the swing arm. A deflection should make the shock absorber of the Super Duke R respond more sensitively. The effort for this is considerable. The single-sided swing arm was given a new shape for the lower strut and – if already, then – the tubular space frame has also been redesigned. It is flatter and, with a boom fixed below the front cylinder, includes the engine more as a supporting element. A rear suspension travel that has been reduced by 16 to 140 millimeters and the tank that has been reduced by two to 16 liters take some of the load off the front wheel and should make the Super Duke R even more neutral. And for everyone who continues to expect extremes from a KTM: 180 horses are now pulling on the chain.
KTM Freeride E-XC
KTM.
KTM Freeride E-XC.
Almost 96 copies of the Freeride E were registered in 2019, more than the Triumph Tiger Sport. This does not include the sports equipment for use on closed terrain that does not even appear in the statistics. The electric freeride is ideal for this: without noise and exhaust, but plowing through the terrain with KTM’s off-road competence, changing or recharging the battery and off you go. It is not particularly suitable for touring on public roads; the version with 17-inch road tires is no longer available.
