Tour tip

This tour takes you to the lonely mountain region east of Monte Baldo and north of Verona. Behind the Adige is a wonderland that evades the tourist crowds on Lake Garda.

With the little-known Passo Fittanze there is a first bang, which active people will welcome. Another highlight is the Pasubio Pass and its eventful history. The sparsely overgrown plateau of the Lessinia nature park makes off-road ambitious mouth watering on a circular route and awaits with great views of the rugged dolomite walls of the Carega group and the small Dolomites. Experience is required in the narrow and sometimes steep switchbacks. The gravel tour through the nature park is optional.

route: approx. 230 km / Travel time: approx. 6 hours (without breaks), 1.5 days with an overnight stay in the Rifugio Branchetto.

On the hill, a simple, rustic bar with a view of Monte Baldo ➤ continue up SP211, Acute-angled confluence before Erbezzo, left on the SP13 Direction Bosco Chiesanuova, leave Erbezzo on the right SP13 stay ➤ 9.2 km after the confluence with the SP13, Layered stone wall on the left, at the end of which a very pointed, poorly signposted confluence to the left towards San Giogio ➤ 250 m later again at an acute-angled intersection, again left towards San Giorgio ➤ Road now more extensive, after 7.2 kilometers on the left the Rifugio Branchetto, rest or overnight stay ➤ 1.6 km behind the Rifugio, the easy-going gravel road branches off into the Lessinia Nature Park (optional), can also be used with road motorbikes (slowly), always keep on the main road.

After 12 km the fun and the view of the Caraga group is (for the time being) over. The slope turns into an asphalt road. This flows back to the already known one at Passo Fittanze or at Erbezzo SP13 ➤ Continue from Rifugio Branchetto over the nearby Passo del Branchetto, the SP13 follow further south. Alongside the road there are always large stone slabs that serve as unusual pasture fences ➤ In the first hamlet behind Camposilvano (1.5 km), hidden driveway to the left towards Azzarino, narrow path with moderate quality but beautiful views ➤ After 4 km, turn left again SP13 ➤ In Sant ‘Andrea to the left on the SP17 Towards Bortolo. Lively street with a smooth surface.

In San Bartolo, coffee stop at the bar ReMIlla ➤ on SP17 Stay until the junction to Cracchi and then turn left onto the SP36b. From now on a colorful tangle of curves via Crespadoro and Marana to Novale ➤ In Novale left on the SP43 and then right to Schio. The confluence is very hidden behind a zebra crossing! ➤ Easy driveway to Passo Zovo. Break in the trattoria at the top of the pass.

From Schio easy gliding over the SP46 To the west / Passo Pasubio. The mountain scenery is now more dramatic, bends are easy to drive in second or third gear, sporadic patches. Large parking lot in Pasubio, lots of bikes. Directly before the top of the pass, a road branches off to the ossaria / memorial tower on Pasubio. Memory of the bloody battles on Pausbio with several thousand dead in World War I ➤ Easy sliding to Rovereto, then to the S12 Direction Ala / South to complete the circle.
