These were our neighbors’ bestsellers in 2019
BMW models also play an important role with our French neighbors, but only Japanese models are on the podium in the 2019 annual balance sheet.

The sun king among new registrations of models over 125 cc in 2019 was the Yamaha MT-07. Yamaha was able to sell a whopping 6,368 units of the mid-range naked bike in France. This places the Japanese twin well ahead of its direct competitor, the Kawasaki Z 650, which received 3,676 new registrations. The success of the Kawasaki Z 900, which secured third place on the podium with 3,451 new registrations in 2019, shows how well the Kawasaki Z concept is received by the French. The 900 series benefits greatly from its A2-compatible variant.
The BMW GS is only in fourth place with 3,420 new registrations. However, the French rate the normal GS and its Adventure variant, which is in ninth place with 2,454 new registrations. In total, the GS would have 5,874 units and would thus take second place in the overall ranking.

The BMW C Evolution electric scooter made it into the top 50 new registrations in France, ranking 46th.
Also noteworthy are the placements of the Moto Guzzi V85 TT (42nd place) and the BMW C Evolution electric scooter (46th place) in the top 50 French new registrations over 125 cm³. Even a Royal Enfield Bullet 500 is at number 31 in the charts. You can see the best-selling motorcycles over 125 cc in the picture gallery.
125s dominate overall registrations
However, the best-selling motorized two-wheelers in France in 2019 were two 125cc scooters. The Honda Forza 125 had 6,751 new registrations, the Yamaha XMax 125 is listed with 6,426 new registrations. If you also include three-wheelers, the Piaggio MP3 500 moves up to fourth place overall with 3,854 new registrations. The table shows the overall result – including two-wheelers with a displacement of less than 125 cm³.
