2020 – another successful year

As the parent company of KTM, Husky and GasGas, the Pierer Mobility Group has reported sales figures for 2020. It was another record year.

The Pierer Mobility Group has announced the preliminary key figures for 2020. Despite Corona, the two-wheeler company was able to set new records. With a total of 326,471 motorcycles and e-bikes in the 2020 financial year, it was the 10th record year in a row. A turnover of 1.53 billion euros (previous year: 1.52 billion) was achieved, with the e-bike division already contributing a turnover of 112.5 million euros.

Corona intercepted

With 212,713 motorcycles sold by KTM, 49,046 motorcycles sold by Husqvarna and 8,648 motorcycles sold by GasGas in the 2020 financial year, total sales of 270,407 motorcycles (2019: 280,099 units) were achieved. The high demand in the second half of the year was able to almost offset the corona slump from the first half of the year.

In addition, the e-bike division achieved extraordinary sales growth of more than 33 percent with sales of 56,064 e-bikes (2019: 41,993 (not consolidated)) from the Husqvarna and R Raymon brands.

USA remains the largest market

In Europe, sales to dealers were around 100,000 motorcycles and 56,064 e-bikes. Around two thirds of the motorcycles (approx. 170,000) were sold to the local dealer network in the markets outside Europe, and particularly in North America, India and Australia. The USA remains the largest single market for the Pierer Group.

With the complete takeover of GasGas in July 2020, the Spaniards will be positioned as the third group brand in the offroad sector and as the world market leader in the trial segment. With GasGas, the product portfolio is also supplemented by a sporty range in the high-end e-mountain bike category.

CF Moto

Pierer Mobility is aiming for further growth in all important motorcycle markets in 2021. In Europe, market leadership is the declared goal of the Austrians. In cooperation with the Indian partner Bajaj, the development of several electric two-wheeler models is being advanced on the shared electric drive platform. The first Husqvarna brand electric scooter will be launched in 2022. In order to gain a stronger foothold in China, the world’s fastest growing premium motorcycle market, the cooperation with CF Moto is to be deepened. The start of production of the first models will begin in the second quarter of 2021.

Conclusion

The KTM family has achieved record results for ten years in a row. The aim is to be the market leader in Europe in 2021. The USA remains the largest single market, with great hopes being placed in China, but also in India.
