Kawasaki KLE 500
The Kawasaki KLE 500 really cannot be blamed for a lack of independence. But what about suitability for everyday use and reliability??

Those who sit between the chairs need stamina. As the Kawasaki KLE 500, which for 15 years has successfully refused to go into any drawer. Typical off-road with 21-inch front wheel and Stollenbe-
equipped with maturation, it does not look happy in the field:
too high the weight, too low the capacity of the fork and shock absorber. It also does not pass as a travel machine. The seat is too narrow and too soft, and the 15-liter tank limits the range of the thirsty bike to a modest 150 to 200 kilometers. And the
Athletes can only be found in the KLE family tree. It has the same engine as the sister-
model GPZ 500 S, but has had to be since 1996
modest with a somewhat tough-looking 48 hp. What
Admittedly, the 500 series does not prevent it, as a bustling country road sweeper, to live up to the term »fun bike«. Less experienced pilots in particular enjoy the effortless handling and the upright seating position. In addition, driving stability and steering precision are pleasing, but not the fork, which is too soft even on the road, and the toothless front brake. Despite small weaknesses, one counts KLE 500 to the recommended used machines. Because it shows stamina not only in terms of market presence, but also with its sophisticated technology.

sightseeing
The one counts as an oldie in the Kawasaki program
KLE 500 to the mature motorcycles. Typical weaknesses are rare and are mainly limited to the years of construction before 1994.
l Engine: On early KLE 500 gears hooked and gears jumped out, as well as stud bolts breaking off
the exhaust manifolds. Defective timing chain tensioners are not uncommon until 1994. So be careful if it rattles when the engine is cold.
l Carburetor: Dynojet carburetor kits are popular, the operating permit expires after conversion.
l Suspension strut: Damping often drops sharply after 20,000 kilometers.
l Fork: ex works with a spring that is much too soft, which requires the installation of progressive fork springs.
l Rust: processing negligent in places; watch out for rust on the frame, exhaust and tank.
l Brake: Check the front disc for distortion, especially with higher mileage.
Market situation
The interest in used KLE 500 is limited, targeted demand is rare. The KLE is more tempting to make spontaneous purchases by beginners and re-entrants, provided that the price, condition and mileage are right. The upper price limit for private sales is currently around 2500 euros, more expensive KLE often mutate into grandfather clocks.
